27.1.11 - Choose Your Path
Made by gm 74
27/365. I find that in doing this 365 I am making a lot of choices. Which shot should I use today? Why? What do I say about it? Should I do that other one again tomorrow? I'd hate for an idea to go to waste… Will the light be right again? I'm kinda too tired and too busy to drag my gear out right now; will it still be foggy tomorrow like it is tonight? (This is where reading aviation forecasts comes in handy, yes, it is supposed to be foggy tomorrow, and if it isn't, it's the coast, it will ALWAYS be foggy again soon, especially this time of year.) Decisions, decisions. Which path to take? One good thing about this: I am spending more time thinking about what I want to shoot, and what my ultimate goal for the final photo is. Before, I'd go out for a walk and just shoot whatever. Now, I am very… what's the word… much more discerning when I press the shutter release… Hopefully I'm steadily improving as I go. That's my entire goal, to take better pictures in December than I took in January. Really, isn't that all anyone really wants when they do this? :)

After you stoped loving me, i found someone who did
Made by Annie Lehn-Art Photography
Maybe I should give up I'm standing out in the rain, I need to know if its over, cause I will leave you alone. Flooded with all this pain, Knowing that i'll never hold you Like I did before the storm Trying to keep the light from going out And the clouds from ripping out my broken heart. We always say a heart is not whole without the one, who gets you through the storm. ►Facebook fan page ►Tumblr

Why are you all staring at me?
Made by LIBRRIAN
All three of us were trying to capture this little guy. Mike has this huge lens and I'm pretty sure he got a really good shot. Bri has an excellent DSLR, too, but I haven't seen her images yet. Here's my contribution, taken with my new little P&S. His legs and feet are bright green! My friend, Dan, suggested it might be an American Bittern and he was right. The green legs are the clincher! Sailing The High Seas
Made by TRB*
A weekend of piracy during the Ship To Shore tall ship festival in Steveston. Down on the southwestern shore of Richmond sits the historic Steveston Village, a once-boisterous frontier seaport and principal port on the Fraser River, founded in 1880 by William Herbert Steves. The village, with its ambient fishing village atmosphere, comes to life each summer, with plenty for visitors to see and do. Heritage sites and parks, fresh seafood, great local restaurants and colourful gift shops and markets all await your visit.

SOOC Click it LARGE please! Oh HAI. I put my sunglasses in front of my lens and that is how I got this effect. So YA! This is and Jessica! I hang out with these two so much. I'm almost positive their families are annoyed with me now ;) ... or they've learned to adapt with having me around. We went for a walk and took photos during sunset. It was relaxing considering we had an exhausting day.

Tall Ship - Lady Washington
Made by FernShade
The original Lady Washington a 90-ton merchant sloop named for Martha Washington. Her maiden voyage was from Boston in 1787, and she plied the waters around Cape Horn and participated in the fur and pelt trade with the coastal Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest and in tea and porcelain across the Pacific in China. The current replica was created in 1989, in Aberdeen, WA, for the 1989 Washington State Centennial celebrations

The Snow Geese Are Back [Explored]
Made by Clayton Perry Photoworks
Every spring and fall the Snow Geese make a stop over in Richmond and other parts of the lower mainland on their way North or South and now they are on their way back down South for the winter. So for the next 3 or so weeks these guys are going to tear up every vacant field and leave goose droppings everywhere...Oh Joy!! Sure their cool to look at but what a mess they leave behind. I think I can only explain the pedestal upon which Lr3 works by using this equation: [(iPhone3G) - 1.0x10^9000] + [(Lr3)(1.0x10^9 000 000)] = X Yeah, this was taken with an iPhone. More importantly, it was realized with Lr3. You're welcome for the plug, Adobe. I'll be expecting my free upgrade email presently. This is a wind sculpture, obviously. It's a giant globe with waves.

Waves Sculpture
Made by maclobster (away)
This is part of a spherical sculpture by Yvonne Domenge from Mexico titled Olas de Viento, or Wind Waves in Garry Point Park in Steveston Richmond. The volcanic peak Mt. Baker is in the far distance. As always, thoughtful feedback is always appreciated. Use of this photo without permission is really not cool at all. Please contact me if you would like to use it.

Off Kilter
Made by Tom Wiebe
Finally got out to Garry Point in Steveston to see Yvonne Domenge's 'Olas de Vienoto' or Wind Waves, part of the Vancouver Biennale. Lovely sculpture in a near perfect setting. This should stay here, couldn't imagine a better place for it. Was feeling a bit off kilter after riding the dike there with my bike tires a little low on air though so, this was the result.

Olas de Viento (Wind Waves)
Made by Erich J. Harvey
On display Garry Point Steveston. his intense red circular form of rhythmic and undulating curves and movement is reflective of the oceans waves within a contained form. Selected by the Director of the Museum of Modern Art, Mexico City to represent Mexico, this work was created specifically for the Vancouver Biennale and a beach promontory.

Evening falls on Scotch Pond
Made by Eric Flexyourhead
Mari and I went to Steveston to meet some friends for ice cream and ended up wandering into Garry Point Park. I never knew about Scotch Pond before, but I really liked this narrow strip of of water filled with working fishing boats. Richmond, BC. May 27, 2009.

Beach at Garry Point Park
Made by timbarton
Today has been Good Friday and we visited Steveston in Richmond. It was bright but still on the chilly side out of the sun. Garry Point Park was busy with kite flyers and familes out enjoying the holiday. This is the beach at the park. The short green grasses poking up through the sand at low tide caught my attention.

Wind Waves, an issue of scale.
Made by Tom Wiebe
Mike shoots Yvonne Domenge's 'Olas de Vienoto' or Wind Waves, part of the Vancouver Biennale with his puny E-P1 during a bike ride to Steveston Village in August. Captured the way things should be, with a Rolleiflex. Shot on outdated Afgapan APX 100 I found in my freezer, developed in Ilfotec DD-X.

Many A Generation
Made by cdnsue
have looked down this channel. Steveston was once one of the largest fishing ports on the West Coast. Over time, this has changed. The canneries are gone and most of the fleet. So, when the salmon opening comes, it's a precious time. In a few years, it may just be a memory.
