God in details
Made by mindgutter
National Basilica washed in sun's setting glow. I tried to get God in the photo, thus the title. The sun was spectacular that afternoon. I came to photograph the cherry blossoms, but just had to get the basilica and its reflection in the fountain. This is in the area of DC called Brookland. There is a metro stop Brookland/Catholic University. The Basilica and the University share their campus. It is a great place to photograph. Unfortunately, the Basilica closes every day at 7, just as the April sun is in its warmest glows. The whole area of Brookland is a bit forgotten by people mostly hanging in NW. It is known as Little Rome because of the multitude of Catholic and Christian organizations located there. There are plenty of great things to shoot there. There is the monastery and a few schools and universities that have awesome buildings to grab on to. And when you get tired make sure to visit the Colonel's pub, right the the metro stop. They have great burgers and the beer flows like wine.

Kogod Courtyard, Washington DC
Made by Michael LaPalme
The Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC. The roof, a steel structure with a glass and aluminum exterior, has a surface area of approximately 37,500 square feet. There are 864 panes of glass and no two are alike. Eight steel columns support the canopy, which weighs around 900 tons. Designed by the world-renowned architectural firm Foster Partners it was decided that It should not touch the building at any point-floating above it instead, like a cloud over a courtyard.
