Vir Savarkar Airport

Vir Savarkar Airport or Port Blair Airport (IATA: IXZ, ICAO: VOPB) is an airport located in Port Blair, on the Andaman Islands of India. It is named after the Indian freedom fighter Vir Savarkar. Airlines that fly to this airport include Indian and Jet Airways. An interesting feature of this airport is that the take off strip is shorter than conventional ones. In fact, if the plane doesn't gather enough speed during a take off, then he has to try again. Also, there is a road next to the boundary wall, where all traffic is stopped, much like a typical Railway crossing in most other Indian cities and towns.
