Wendy and Me
Made by nebarnix
Wendy is a tiny, sweet, and easily excitable capuchin who loves to break glasses, chew on cameras, lick lenses, and fill your lens hood with rocks when you're not looking. She also loves to play in water especially on sunny days... Then climb on you or run up the back of your shirt -- still soaking wet of course. The only way to keep her out of trouble is to take her on walks where she sits on your head or shoulders and the new scenery distracts her from your more expensive possessions (most of the time). When she sees something interesting (a bean, some bear poop, or a cool rock) she'll give a curious twitter, jump down, and then run back up when she's done checking it out. Don't try to sneak away when you think she's not looking, because she is!

Amazon Army Worms-2
Made by nebarnix
(Perhaps not true army worms, no positive ID as of yet) These hoards of black caterpillars intrigued me so much that I spent an entire 20 min exploring a single group of them. The time and place were right as well, no monkeys or people around to interrupt or steal my equipment! The long exposures show the movement of the worms -- directed and organized. These were no patched of slithering snakes, the caterpillars moved in unison as a single organism. I once saw an entire group pile up to reach a branch that was about 4 inches off of the jungle floor.

Insect-Devouring Fungus-3
Made by nebarnix
I must admit this was one of the most amazing things I witnessed in the jungle. The ant appears to have frozen dead in its tracks as the fungus overtook his body. Perhaps the fungus secretes a paralyzing toxin before invading the nervous system? The fruiting bodies are also symmetric and systematic. I wonder if this fungus is specific to ants.

Bug on jeans 2
Made by nebarnix
I found some of the neatest bugs on drying clothing hanging on the lines. Obviously getting a drink of water, this colorful one has some neon colored pits in his otherwise golden carapace. larger farm4.static.flickr.com/3237/2736204536_55678c2004_b.jpg

Bullet Ant 3
Made by nebarnix
This bullet ant was about 20mm long. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullet_ant for more information on this incredible and scary ant.
