The Vatican Museums (Musei Vaticani) are the public art and sculpture museums in the Vatican City, which display works from the extensive collection of the Roman Catholic Church. Pope Julius II founded the museums in the 16th century. The Sistine Chapel and the Stanze della Segnatura decorated by Raphael are on the visitor route through the Vatican Museums. As of November 2006, it was visited by more than 4,000,000 people for the year.

Quando ero in Vaticano e fotografavo questa scena, immaginavo che questa scala sarebbe stata azzeccata nell'albergo a cui Jack deve fare da guardiano in Shining. Chissà che inseguimenti con l'accetta! Il titolo, celebre e dissacratorio sfogo di Fantozzi, mi serve ad introdurre un piccolo ragionamente che è maturato da una discussione con amici ieri sera. Se una persona, pur riconoscendo le capacità tecniche, l'inventiva, le innovazioni introdotte e l'indubbio talento registico e fotografico di Kubrick, afferma che un suo film non gli piace, è da considerarsi un cretino? Insomma, se a me dei suoi film sono piaciuti solo Orizzonti di gloria, Spartacus e Full Metal Jacket, sono un povero demente? E vi risparmio le mie lotte intestine mentre preparo un esame di arte contemporanea: riassumendo tantissimo ed evitando di finire sul filosofico, io credo che molte persone considerino maestri certi artisti, molto sopravvalutati, per partito preso e perchè affermare il contrario significherebbe essere additati come ignoranti. Ma insomma: se io Fontana (http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucio_Fontana) non me lo filo manco per il cazzo, che ci posso fare?

This is a lousy picture of the ceiling, but as with most notable places, they wouldn't allow photography. The atmosphere in the room was very controlled, with guards constantly shushing people, telling them not to take pictures. I pointed the camera up and took this because it was getting on my nerves that they wouldn't let you take pictures even without flash.
