Today, for a few fleeting moments, I could have been on Mars. I had a moment of realization that all of a sudden, here I am, firmly entrenched in adulthood, in a big city like Chicago. I'm on my own, making a decent living. When did all of this happen? It's as if for a brief moment on my lunch break today, I had woken up from a long, deep sleep - slightly disoriented, a bit scared. As reality (and thankfulness) crept back into the picture, I realized that I am not alone in this city. I am connected to those all around me, both within my inner circle, and also to fellow Chicagoans passing me on the streets, from all walks of life. I *am* Chicago. And I will be just fine.

It has been so long since there's been decent light in Chicago, I almost feel like I'm shooting with a different camera. But, no, I'm still shooting with the same 4.0 mega-pixel fossil that I did in 2005. I only took my camera out on February 29 because it was leap day and if I didn't take photos that day it would be another four years until I could. But I'm really glad that I did. Despite the cold wind blowing, I stood on the bridge at Van Buren Street and took photos of the Chicago River. I was amazed at how they were turning out. This one caught my eye the most. RATING NOTES 39/50 on Score Me! (7.8) 73/100 on 10 to 1 (7.3)
