Valley of the Queens
The Valley of the Queens, also known as Biban el-Harim (Arabic: b+y+b+a+n+ a+l+hkr+y+m+), Biban el-Sultanat (Arabic: b+y+b+a+n+ a+l+s+l+tja+n+a+t+), and Wadi el-Melikat (Arabic: w+a+d+y+ a+l+m+l+k+a+t+), is a place in Egypt where wives of Pharaohs were buried in ancient times. In ancient times, it was known as Ta-Set-Neferu, meaning -`the place of the Children of the Pharaoh', because along with the Queens of the 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties (1550-1070 BCE) many princes and princesses were also buried with various members of the nobility. The tombs of these individuals were maintained by mortuary priests whom performed daily rituals and provided offerings and prayers for the deceased nobility.Top photos chosen by u all:

This bleak-looking valley actually holds what I thought was the best part of my Egypt trip. Underground are tombs that, although fully raided, the decoration and ornate artwork on the walls have been neatly preserved. Vibrant colors are all over the walls and white stars on a blue background blanket the ceilings. If you ever get to Egypt, pay the extra fee to take pictures inside the tombs. I'm sad I didn't.
