365/365 || Going out with a bang!!!!
Made by Aqua Libra
For everything there is a beginning and an end, there is an A and there is a Z, there is Alfa and Omega. This symbolizes so many things for me now. It closes the cycle of 365 images. Started out as a impulsive ADHD maxie project with a what the hell, let's give it a try kinda feel to it and see what I could come up with, to make 365 photos and keep it interesting combined with my poetry and my sick sense of humor :) During the project I've started to notice that it was also a very personal journey for me to wake up and shake some old demons off, and as you may know old demons made me sick. Losing control over one side of your body isn't funny, losing the ability to speak properly isn't funny. months of insecurities and tests wasn't funny...oh don't get me wrong I am doing so much better and working my way back :). So as you may know it took me a lot more than a year to finish this 365..but all things that happened never made me quit..and my girl never made me quit. I cannot imagine what I would have done without her, with this project, helping me getting dressed, driving me to the hospital and so much more. I love you Liesje!! And for you sweet guys and sweet girls, I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your wonderful support and concern and even sweet presents during this 365 rollercoaster and my sickness, it really sometimes brought me to tears. I always thought that Internet friendships were a lot of blabla..but now I know there can be real warm connections and I cherish them allot. And some people that are with me from the beginning have a special place in my heart.. *M-C1*: I so respect your work all over the years Lisa and to do what you do..I can't do..You’re the Flickr queen bee!! This land was being used as Blooding Grounds by the Yautja. Every couple of years, between two and five, male un-bloods and Young Bloods was gathered by their elders and veterans to lead them on hunts. The un-bloods to experience their first taste of the thrill of the hunt and to pass into adult hood if they survive the hunt and pass the trials laid before them. The Young Bloods, already in their adult hood, were only given prey to further hone on their hunting skills so they would be ensured survival to earn their own rite to give children and pass into full-blooded Yautja. The Yautjas tool of the hunt, their most aggressive and ultimate prey: Kainde Amedha. Otherwise known as, Hard Meat, or, Xenomorphs, Bugs, Aliensand other species.The Yautja were surprise when they learned of the Humans colonizing their hunting grounds. This however did not change their minds in relocating. In fact, to them, it would only add to the thrill of the hunt.The eggs were laid somewhat close to the compound and as anticipated, some Humans that ventured out became curious of the newly laid eggs and were quickly impregnated. Distraught and unaware of what they carried within their chests, the colony members stumbled through their town gates and soon became the cause that infected and destroyed their peaceful society. As their numbers dwindled, a distress beacon was sent which called to the attention of the Marines. A Platoon stationed not far from LV6205 were given orders to rescue the remaining citizens and destroy all the Xenomorphs. They were prepared for a Xenomorph assault upon arrival, but unprepared for the giant beasts that awaited outside the city walls. The Yautja. There was plenty of Kainde Amedha to go around, but to ensure a great hunt, the Leaders planned a tactical procedure amongst their packs to hunt outside the walls for the time being. Waiting for the right moment to hunt the Humans when they were pushed to the point where they would fight back in order to survive instead of turning around and running. And they also awaited for the arrival of the Humans most elite fighting group...The Marines. Like the colony members, the Marines dropped like flies, and what few Marines and colony members survived were bunkered together in a temporary safe haven.Two Marines left - Privates, civilian men, woman and children, even a new born. One woman, Max McGyver, took it upon herself to protect the small group and lead them to ensured safety. The Marines Drop Vessel. Equipping everyone able to carry a weapon, gathered from the fallen Marines, And Maxie leads them outside the confinements of their tiny, makeshift safe haven and into the bowls of hell . . .

Hessing, Utrecht, The Netherlands Open-Air Thrills The Maserati GranCabrio marks a new and important chapter in Maserati’s history. It is a Maserati unlike any seen before. Imagine being at the roadside on the Via Emilia - the heart of a region famed for its motoring links - on a cool summer morning. You hear the unmistakable sound of an engine before a powerful car appears. On the car’s grille sits the Maserati badge. The car is a cabriolet. There can be no mistake: it is the GranCabrio. The name, GranCabrio, evokes Maserati’s renowned traditions and experience, tying the new vehicle to the GranTurismo concept and bringing to life past GranSports. At the same time, the name underlines how much the car differs from every model that has preceded it. The GranCabrio redefines the idea of a cabriolet. The open-top, four-seater GranCabrio offers the chance to share a fantastic driving experience with those you love, one enhanced by top quality materials, the aroma of prestigious woods and refined leather. GranCabrio is Maserati’s exclusive take on the need to live exciting experiences in company as opposed to the mania of owning things just for the sake of it. GranCabrio is designed for those who take pleasure from good taste and who appreciate Italian power and elegance. However, they do not want to be limited by using the car just as a couple or not being able to at all because there is a new addition to the family. In the GranCabrio the joy of sharing experiences reaches previously unattainable heights. Source: Maserati

Just Escaped Mammocking. Vanessa atalanta, Red Admiral, on Bush Aster, Aster dumosus, in the Oude Hortus, Utrecht, The Netherlands
Made by Rana Pipiens
Reading Shakespeare's Roman tragedy Coriolanus (ca. 1606) as on the other side of the window the very low, early winter sun cast long shadows on my little garden patio... I saw how Virgilia, Coriolanus' wife, and her lady friends are watching the young son at play. They chat about his prowess, rather fighting than listening to schoolmasters. Valeria gushes: 'O' my word, the father's son: I'll swear 'tis a pretty boy ... I saw him run after a gilded butterfly; and when he caught it, he let it go again; and after it again; and over and over he comes, and up again; catched it again: or whether his fall enraged him, or how 't was, he did so set his teeth, and tear it; O, I warrant, how he mammocked it!' And then Valeria: 'Indeed, la, 'tis a noble child.' That particular butterfly didn't escape tearing and shredding, mammocking, in short. But if you look carefully at our Vanessa atalanta, it's clear it actually survived an attack by one of its enemies, a bird possibly or a mantis, perhaps a dragonfly, and maybe even by one of the kids I could hear across the Garden wall. A chunk is gone from the right wing. Now Atalanta is resting and reviving on Aster dumosus, the wonderful Bushy Asters profuse in the Old Botanical Garden of the University at Utrecht in Autumn. This is such a pretty and vivid memory quite necessary to take Coriolanus's tragedy off my mind. As for more on Vanessa, a few years ago I posted another shot: .

Oh! for a Reconditorium... Harlequin Glorybower (Clerodendrum trichotomum), The Old Hortus Botanicus, Utrecht, The Netherlands
Made by Rana Pipiens
What a name! Harlequin Glorybower... its beautiful pristine 'white-like-the-driven-snow' flowers of Summer in Autumn give way to these wonderfully colorful fruits. Usually I associate Harlequin with oranges and yellows and pumpkin colors (and honestly, by now am a bit tired of those). These pinks and steel-blues with a bit of orange thrown in just to allude to Halloween were a delight to my eyes this afternoon. But this late Autumn, I shuddered a bit on behalf of our Clerodendrum trichotomum; though of the hardy Verbena (= Ironweed) family, this particular one hails from the warmer climes of Japan and China. The old Hortus Botanicus of Groningen under the first professor of Botany, Henricus Munting (1583-1658), was fitted out already in 1656 with a so-called Reconditorium, a 'stove' or hot house for plants susceptible to the cold. In the Utrecht old Hortus, established in 1723 at the present location within the city, plants like this one could not avail themselves of comfort until 1726 when a 'stove' was built 'tot bewaringh van vreemde en teere gewassen' (to keep foreign and delicate plants). Today the research gardens have been moved away from the city to the new campus at the Uithof, but the Old Garden is a smallish yet highly delightful place. Wonderful for a walk just before the exercises for which Y'r Obedient Servant is visiting this town.

Compensation for Mozart's Lost Music. Scarlet Trumpet Flower (Brugmansia sanguinea) in the Old Hortus Botanicus, Utrecht, The Netherlands
Made by Rana Pipiens
Leopold Mozart, Great Mozart's father, in 1762 wrote a Trumpet Concerto just before Sebald Justinus Brugmans (1763-1819) was born. Scarlet Trumpet Flower - officially Brugmansia sanguinea - was named for Brugmans, one time professor of Botany of the university at Leiden. This particular plant - potted rather too tightly, I think - has just been moved to the orangery or conservatory of the old Hortus Botanicus of Utrecht to weather the winter, almost upon us. This orangery is a rather curious building because it has two floors. It is said that the second floor was added as a small concert hall for the visit of young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Utrecht in 1766. The story of this architectural innovation is probably groundless, but it is true that ten-year old Mozart and his older sister Nannerl gave a joint performance of clavecimbel music in the city. A few years later in 1768 - Utrecht, no doubt, long forgotten - Mozart apparently followed in his father's footsteps and also wrote a Trumpet Concerto, which has regrettably been lost. But as I trod the Autumnal Paths of this pretty Botanical Garden it was not Mozart - neither father nor son - who delighted my inner ear, but the smooth trumpet of Miles Davis's (1926-1991), 'Someday My Prince Will Come'.

Best viewed large to see all the interesting stuff there is on sale. This image was taken in a small shop in Utrecht. This shop, named De Oude Doos (The Old Box), sells all kind of old things like dolls and dresses to collectors. Although the shop was still closed the very kind owner let me in to take some images. I asked her to write some words about here little shop: DE OUDE DOOS is a shop for collectors of many different items. De shop is already 25 years old and in this period we served many collectors by helping them with valuable additions to their collection. We have customers with many different collections, however, most eye-catching are the collections of old dolls and toys. All our items are at least 50 years old. Besides this we have antique, sewing kits and other handcrafts items, old cookie and chocolate cans, medical instruments, kitchen items and glass. We also have dices and helped a collector with additions to his extensive sets of special dices. This photo is also explored. I don't know why it is explored, because this shot isn't very special and it isn't a special car. Can somebody tell me how explore works? What do you think of this shot? Is the composition good or is it bad? Please give a comment The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is a luxury grand tourer automobile developed by Mercedes-Benz AMG to replace the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. The SLS AMG is designed to be a modern 300SL Gullwing revival. The car has a long hood, the passenger compartment is close to the rear axle and the rear of the car is short. The SLS AMG will also adapt the feature of wing doors that will swing open upwards on gas struts, not in a mix of upwards and forward like the SLR. The doors must be closed manually as AMG engineers decided against auto-closing systems because the systems would have added 90 pounds (41 kg) to the car. In case of a roll-over, the doors can be fully detached to allow the occupants to leave the vehicle. My dad took my 500D on vacation so I had to take his Canon 1000D. That is the reason why this shot is taken by a Canon 1000D.

Best viewed large: This is a view up the more than 60 meter high tower of De Inktpot. The ceiling your are looking up to is at 45 meters. The upper part of the tower is a water reservoir. The inktpot is build between 1918 and 1922 using 20.000.000 bricks. The building is designed by G.W. van Heukelom for the Dutch Railways. The blue light in the top is daylight shinning through blue windows. All the other light is artificial. Normally you cannot enter the building, but today it was Open Monumentendag and ProRail, the current owner of the building opened the doors for the public. So, I brought my tripod and positioned myself in the middle of the hall. While I was on my knees preparing this shot about 50 or more people were gathering around me. Not to see what I was doing, but the hall was also the starting point of the guided excursions that were given today. Explore Sep 8, 2007 #161 Visit my iStock portfolio

Best viewed large The second one in my new series. A little shop loaded with antique items. I asked the lady of the shop if I could made some pictures inside. Without hesitation, she agreed and she told me I was free to shoot what ever I liked. After I was finished, we talked for half an hour about old houses and how charming they are. She told me that years ago, she was asked to take pictures in what is now called Karel V, a very beautiful hotel in Utrecht. Then, it was totally decayed. Without knowing she had been on a urban exploration... I asked her email address which she did not have, so I told her I would make a print of the most beautiful picture I took in her little shop. I actually made two prints of this image. One is decorating in my own house... Visit my iStock portfolio

5th Season

Best viewed large A storm is raging, inside my head The wind is howling, such thoughts of death Why am I so lost and confused? Can't find the reason, for feeling blue There's so much I can't explain Hope this season changes soon. The lightning strikes and the mountains fall The sea's come crashing, against it all Hang on tight, in the tides of change And get your bearings from those still sane There's so much I've yet to feel Hope the seasons change me too. The serpent tangles, in the lion's claw A cloud of darkness, hangs over all As fires soar, in search of sky So blow embers, like fire flies Hoping love is where they'll lie, And the season change us too. 5th Season (Paul Weller)

Hessing, Utrecht, The Netherlands As I'm new to editing with Photoshop, I'm trying really hard to get the hang of the software. In this shot, I got rid of an anoying reel and cable at the leftside of the car and I recreated the passengerside of the interior due to the fact that there originally was a card on the windshield with the specs of the car for possible customers. I know it probably could have been done a lot better but I'm kind of proud that I've come so far in just a few days. Please let me know what you think of the shot and editing!
