Sleeping Dragon

This column supports 4 levels of highway in the centre of Shanghai at the intersection of Yanan Lu / Chengdu Lu. Urban legend is that during construction the piling work that had been running smoothly hit difficulty at this point and it became impossible for the construction team to drive the piles into the ground required for the foundation of the column. After some days of failed attempts and the investigations of many experts the construction manager engaged the help of a local priest and dragon expert. The priest confirmed the managers suspicions that this was the site of a sleeping dragon angered by the constant piling work. Some prayers and offerings were made and the next day the ground became soft again and the piles could be driven. As a gesture to the kind dragon the column was clad in gold dragon figures and the dragon now continues to sleep as each day thousands of cars pass by. Don't you just love China :-)

I have been work at this place for 3months at year 2009, but absolutely today, it is the best night I have ever experience! Located in the northwestern corner of People's Square. the Shanghai Grand Theater covers 70,000 squat meters. It is actually composed of three theaters. The theaters can accommodate performances of ballet opera, symphonies, chamber music modern dramas, and musicals. The theater also owns the largest, fully automatic stage in Asia. The theater has become a symbol of modern culture in Shanghai.
