Ulyanovsk
Ulyanovsk (Russian: Ul'ya'novsk), formerly Simbirsk (Simbi'rsk), is a city on the Volga River in Russia, 893 km east from Moscow. It is the administrative center of Ulyanovsk Oblast, and the birthplace of Vladimir Lenin. Population: 635,947 (2002 Census).Top photos chosen by u all:

The town where Lenin was born. Ulyanovsk, former Simbirsk. It stands on a high bank of Volga river and when in 1921 a great landslide throw down a part of the town into the river Lenin said Really, it was a loathsome town... Welcome to the Lenin's motherland a billboard in the airport said... A white Soviet limousine Volga with a very kind driver was waiting for me in the airport. A dinner in a workers canteen costed 37 rubles ($1.45)... And the Lenin's bas-relief together with the modern Russian flag on the background... after twenty years when Perestroika has begun... all this asks me isn't communism alive and in good health?...
