Blue Sky Growing a Tree Branch in the Garden of Success
Made by epSos.de
Small branch of a growing tree against deep blue sky. This picture is a good symbol for growth, success, natural beauty, stability, hope and a better future. This photo was created on a warm morning, in the spring, just before the buds of this cherry tree were about to bloom. So that this picture stands for a new beginning and renewal. So that this picture symbolizes the end of winter. The light in this photo has special properties. This kind of light only reaches the earth when it is spring. This picture also represents freedom, fertility, strength and vitality of a healthy environment with rich biodiversity. Just like in a healthy forest or a healthy field of an organic farmer. The idylic composition of this photo is a result of perfect weather conditions that made this picture possible. There was almost no wind on the day as this photo was created and the few wind that was there was so warm, calm and soft that it nearly forced to feel happy. epSos.de uses this photo as a wallpaper and as a background for blue PCs, because it looks clean and beautiful on any high defenition screen. And also, because the serene sky in this picture makes you feel relaxed.

201/2011: National Museum of Nature and Science
Made by Takahiro Yamamoto
My son and I went to the Dinosaur Expo 2011 at a museum in Ueno, Taito Ward. I was so much into dinosaurs when I was a kid. I had every kind of book about dinosaurs. But I've forgotten about it for a long time. The reason we visited the exhibition was I got two free tickets. I don't know if I had seen it without free tickets. I like to dream about the ancient world but I have no interest in the bones, which are fossils to be exact. Anyway a good thing was that I was able to have time to enjoy the museum architecture. It was built in 1931. No one around me including my son didn't pay attention to the building itself. If the thunder storm hadn't hit Ueno, I wouldn't have time to shoot this view. My son was complaining but I didn't care. I said to him, Stay.. The ceiling shown in the image can be found in the main building. It was gorgeous. Another good thing was that I was able to test my new camera there. I tried 1600 ISO and it worked. One of the results is on .

Ueno Park | Sakura 2011 - Cats
Made by simonjp
This year one of the most popular sights in Ueno Koen apart from the sakura were a group of cats, placed in a tree sleepily passing the day. There are about 5 cats sitting here (a couple on the branch off camera to the left); the largest one seen here being the favourite. I have a number of other photos from the trip I will add later on. Hundreds of people snapped up close range photos on cameraphones, (d)slrs, compacts or anything they had amid cries of 'sugoi' (fantastic) etc... Nikon D90, 18-200mm 95mm f/5.3 1/50 ISO 200 SOOC

Getting an Early Start
Made by torode
Check out this kid I snapped at Ueno Zoo the other day. Looked about six years old and he is already handling a serious body while manual focusing a 50mm. Nikon probably has this one hooked for life. Can any Nikon users identify the body (you can zoom in to original 24MP size)? To the people linking to this on tumbler saying this will be their future son, pray that your son or daughter finds for themselves something that makes them happy even if it doesn't involve blogging or photography.

I found this in the park in Ueno. Because it was an impression that was one size larger than oxalis taken ahead, I thought whether it was a kind different at all. I used the macro extension tube, again. It is this time x3. ------ 上野の公園の中で見つけました。 前に撮ったイモカタバミより一回り大きい印象だったので、全く別の種類かと思いました。 これもマクロエクステンションチューブを使いました。今度はx3です。

Hanami under the rain
Made by Laurent T (aka thery_lg)
Location: 35.713306,139.773385 Cherry blossom season has not been good this year in Tokyo - very cold weather, only a few sunshine days (and none of them during the week-end)... This did not prevent a large crowd to go, as usual, to Ueno for hanami. It started to rain at the end of the day, and if some people decided to leave, others took umbrella or carton to shelter from the rain !

Berry 11▸01

First breakfast in Japan. First time having a melonpan. First time having a proper iced green tea, none of that sugary stuff we get in Belgium. When it says natural in Europe, it means it has loads of additional sugar or even lemon... I miss the iced green tea found on every street corner in Japan. — Hasselblad 500C/M • Carl Zeiss 80mm f/2.8 Planar C T* • Fujicolor Pro 400H

Bad Hair Day

Believe it or not, this is his actual colour. He and the two lioness(es?) are not white lions (they are Indian Lions), but are all the same tint. It's most unusual (and so is his mane.... remind you of someone in the early morning mirror ?) LOL ! Canon EOS 5D Mk11, EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS @ 2500 ISO (through heavily scratched glass!) Finally, the train is here.

Took it in the subway, in Sin Okachimachi Tokyo, around 10:45 am. I am little sad today, because my wide lens broke. I don't what happened I was taking pictures, then I couldn't focus, and after awhile it started making loud noise. Since, I don't have a wide angle lens any more I think I won't be posting much pictures; since the lens is expensive and I am kinda broke.

Mu-getsu.
Made by GyakornokPotyautas
I confess: I have no clue about the title's meaning. It's just a song by Dj Krush & Toshinori Kondo I was listening to while looking at my Japan's pictures. Oh, by the way: this is Ueno, Tokyo. And please, don't leave an award just because you must. Post a comment, something yours. I think anyone will appreciate a truly personal comment over a thousand awards.

Pampered Pooches
Made by laszlo-photo
Whew! I'm glad I wasn't wearing my Winnie-the-Pooh backpack the same day. I came across these two cuties during a walk in the park. Their kind owner noticed me trying to photograph them candidly so she promptly organized them into this pose for me. From my archives... I haven't been posting anything lately, so I dipped into my limitless bag of oldies.

204/2011: Foucault's pendulum at National Museum of Nature and Science
Made by Takahiro Yamamoto
There's a large Foucault's pendulum in the stair case of National Museum of Nature and Science, Taito Ward, Tokyo. I wanted to see how it looks like from above, so I ran up the stairs like the child in the blue T-shirt. I took some time to enjoy the view, and again, my son who wanted to go home early was grumbling something but I didn't listen.

Sakura alley
Made by Laurent T (aka thery_lg)
Location: 35.712071,139.773256 Shot today in Ueno park, with the trees in full bloom and unfortunately the rain about to fall (see next picture coming up tomorrow). Though one if not the most famous place for hanami (cherry blossom viewing), Ueno is not my favorite spot in Tokyo - this is however THE place for picnic for the locals.

I'm back from Japan! Whew, it was a great three weeks never to forget. I'm already quite busy two days later, so I'll keep it short for now: Japan completely blew our minds in many ways!! More praising words later. Have a nice weekend! — Hasselblad 500C/M • Carl Zeiss 80mm f/2.8 Planar C T* • Fujicolor Pro 400H

Típicament japonès. A les estacions principals (aquí l'estació de Ueno, Tokio), els accessos als trens estan perfectament ordenats, amb les files marcades. I la gent en fa cas! Typical japanese. Perfect order in the train station, with the places to make the queue. This is Ueno Station, Tokyo.
