Tywyn Beach After Sunset
Made by Darren Turner
Luckily i only live a 15 min drive to the fab west wales coastline i also love to wander along down the beach especially at this time of year as its rather quiet, in fact yesterday i had almost the whole beach at Tywyn to myself. I actually went to grabs some sunset photos so i was hoping & praying for some great fiery skies to emerge. During actual sunset it wasn’t that impressive, the sun was far to bright, however around 15 minutes after the sun had disappeared my patience was rewarded with some stunning colour appearing in the sky, I feel this image missing some people walking along the beach maybe with a dog or 2 but it just wasn’t to be at the time………….better luck next time………..!!

Talyllyn Museum Piece
Made by Kevin R Boyd
There was just time to nip round the museum before they closed the doors. This locomotive looks a little strange in this climate of Health and Safety gone mad - no cab, no safety rails, and not a great deal of comfort of any sort. If I remember rightly, a locomotive just like this was featured in the Railway books of Rev. W Audrey, as one of the fleet building the Skarloey railway. This is no coincidence: Skarloey trains were all based on Talyllyn rolling stock! I will stick my neck out and say this is the image of the locomotive Skarloey before his cab was added.

Adeiladau brics hyll - glan y môr, Tywyn, Gwynedd

Syniad da yw cael cynifer o ffenestri'n wynebu'r môr, ac efallai fod y rhain yn lleoedd braf i fyw ynddynt, ond maent yn eithaf hyll, mewn gwirionedd. Bwriedid codi gwesty deuddeg llawr yma yn 1961 a buasai hynny wedi bod yn waeth o lawer, yn fy marn i. Tisavouriezh divalav a-walc'h...gwashoc'h e c'hallje bezañ bet avat, rak raktreset e voe un ostel 12 estaj evit al lec'h-mañ e 1961. Pretty unattractive architecture at Tywyn, but probably not as bad as the 12 storey hotel planned for this sea-front in 1961.

Towyn Wales 29th August 1975
Made by loose_grip_99
In 1975 Towyn station on the Cambrian Railway/Great Western Railway coastal line in Central Wales boasted more facilities than many major towns today. Loop, Up & Down sidings, goods shed, coal yard, loading gauge, signal box, semaphore signals, foot bridge. It couldn't last & it didn't. This view is looking northwards from an overbridge near the Talyllyn Railway terminus.

Talyllyn Railway Dolgoch 14:55 5th August 1953 by John Wiltshire
Made by peter.brabham
[Neg 208] Fantastic period shot of the Talyllyn Railway back in 1955 taken by John Wiltshire on his summer holidays in North Wales. The line was the first to be preserved in the UK by a preservation society in 1951. Amazing 58 years later you can still have a ride at this same spot behind the same locomotive. You can see another shot taken 6 yeras earlier here :

Silver on Blue
Made by Bhachgen
Not sure what type of tree this is but I couldn't resist snapping a shot of the silver leaves against the blue sky. Yes it really was this blue - I haven't touched up the colour at all! There's a few of these trees growing next to the main road as you head out of Tywyn towards Aberdyfi.

These three Swallow chicks will probably head off on their long journey South quite soon. (the netting was fitted at my workplace at great expense to stop birds nesting in the eaves, they just nest on the netting instead! ;-)

Talyllyn, single truck coach (First Class)
Made by Kevin R Boyd
Part of the vintage train consist, this coach would have been positively luxurious on a small scale, but not sure the ride would have been all that comfortable given the single truck wheelbase.
