The CCE - Center for Cosmic Energy Two Russian Artists-Scientists, Illiya and Emillia Kabakov, observed that throughout the ancient world exist places with thrones at a 60 degree angle to the surface of the earth. The Temple of Apollo in Delphi, the Throne of the Gods in Mongolia, the Icelandic landscape where the first parliament was created, Stonehedge- these places of serenity and spirituality are all thrones at a 60 degree angle. What does this mean? It means that Cosmic Energy rays arrive to planet earth at 60 degrees. Why is this? The Kabakovs discovered a new layer in the atmosphere - the noosphere, which twists the cosmic energy to 60 degrees. In recent archaeological findings in Somerville, MA, it seems that Tufts University's Aidekman Arts Center is a reservoir of Cosmic Energy - a giant mushroom-shaped rock at 60 degrees to the earth was found (see the mushroom ). It seems that Medford-Somerville, MA, contains one of the greatest reservoirs of Cosmic Energy on earth. The Kabakov's envisions to build here a Center for Cosmic Energy, in order to save the Cosmos. Has anyone heard of something more bizarre?

beautiful baby trunkers
Made by presta
Our four new, gorgeous, mint trunkers: l-r Laura, Conor, Lauren (LoGo), Biz (Elizabeth). So completely amazing. Trunk auditions were last weekend: two full days of playing with kids our age and trying to figure out who is best going to communicate the joy and silliness to kids in preschool and day care around the Boston area. It's so much fun and such a wonderful chance for concentrated time with Trunk - an indescribably large part of why I'm back in Boston - but it's also tough work. Tough, that is, until we run around campus after 7 hours of deliberations on Sunday night, tricking the new Trunkers (4 this time) into meeting us for some innocuous when in reality, the roving lot of us are there to kidnap them to take them away for - secret things. Glorious!

Quarter Macro (Magnified)
Made by apdonovan
I was fooling around with my new 1.4x Telextender and extension tubes to see what type of magnification I could get with various combinations. Straight out of the camera, this shot is: Sigma 150mm f/2.8 APO Macro + 12mm extension tube + 1.4x telextender + 25mm extension tube I had to put the first extension tube between the telextender and the lens because the lens isn't directly compatible with the telextender. I don't quite know how to calculate the magnification factor, but based on measuring the same lengths from the I'm guessing this comes out to about 2.1:1

TRUNK!
Made by presta
in our intro costumes. holy mother are we beautiful. grab bigger sizes . Trunk's Fall On Campus show, a whole bunch of silliness we dream up for the amusement and general betterment of our friends and families. We played Lewis Hall Lounge this year, I was a gay german dad with Mike and Posie and I were (yet again) the kids in the Choose Your Own Adventure. We brought a unicorn to show and tell after much searching (it was on the moon, in the end). Don't you love Trunk?

Mike Dancing
Made by apdonovan
for Week 13, Assignment 3, Dance. When I told my housemate Mike about the dance assignment earlier in the week, he told me that he could dance for me and proceeded to do this bumbling dance move. I thought about it for a few days and took him up on the offer. Baryshnikov he is not, but he certainly enjoyed himself; he was on the verge of hysterical laughter throughout his performance. (replaced by the same image but this time with EXIF info)

Tufts 3Ps does Peter Pan under the esteemed direction of Brendan Shea. We had epic swordfights, a world class ribbon dancer, pirates, crocodile, and a cast chock-full of Trunkers, including a mussy little group of Lost Boys with Ezra and myself. Boy, Neverland is quite a place to play. No, I didn't get a D80 or a 30D; I'm uploading the shots I took with friends' cameras.

wherever you, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.

- anthony j. d'angelo day two of three hundred &sixty-five so i made some serious attempts at self-portraiture today, but it was kind of an epic fail, so you guys get nature and bokeh instead :) one of these 365 days, i'll get a self-portrait in :) though i think my take on this project is mainly just a prevention method to keep me from escaping to another major hiatus as soon as the flickr-high wears off :)

take a step & come out of the shade
Made by d li
i can tell you're no longer afraid. i'm helpless without your warming smile. - the perishers oh, how i've missed the sun this past week! but don't let the sunshine fool you, it's -1 degrees today and my fingers were almost too numb to click the shutter :S so i've decided to stop rounding corners even though aesthetically i really like it, but i feel like it ruins the authenticity of the shot.. :( p.s. HBW :)

Cribbage Board
Made by apdonovan
for Week 14, Assignment 3. 12x12 I as walking through my dining room and thinking about this assignment when I saw the cribbage board. Hmm, that's about 12 inches... I've hardly ever done any still life photography before, so this was a bit of a trial & error for me in terms of lighting. I'm looking forward to playing around with that in the future.

Quarter Macro (Normal)
Made by apdonovan
I was fooling around with my new 1.4x Telextender and extension tubes to see what type of magnification I could get with various combinations. Straight out of the camera this shot is just the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 APO Macro on its own. I used this to see what the normal 1:1 magnification would look like check out my max magnification:

Clemonshoe12
Made by Uncle Shoe
Clemonshoe. The best band that never was. I found this old shot while looking for something else. On the night of this shoot, our boiler cracked, we got 18 of snow, and every last bit of booze in the house was consumed, doled out in proportion to body weight. L I S T E N

I talked with this woman's parents during the event, so if you're them and checking out the pictures, I have more than are posted here (though these are the best in my opinion) and the originals are higher resolution. So if you want the others or higher resolution versions just send me a message through this site.

These women are beautiful. Trunk rehearsing for Sunday's On-Campus show. I didn't get to go as I was already 'cross the border in Canada, but I had a splendifirous time for a spell at rehearsal. These kids run fabulous intros, I know that much. So tight. And I saw the trunkers I hadn't seen. Perfect!

Tufts University
Made by apdonovan
I've always loved this view of Tufts, but the lighting has never been that great when I've passed by this spot. I'd love to get a telephoto shot of this sign with the university in the background, but there's just too much clutter obstructing that view if I step back, so this may be as good as it gets.

ghosts of winter, 365.10
Made by presta
Look for the ghost-lady on account of my playing with CS3's Merge to HDR function. I swear I won't be one of those Look, winter in New England! people, but the sun came out today, and I ran to campus - the most naturally beautiful place around - to snap some photos of the frost in sunshine. Lovely!

library roof

Obligatory Tisch-roof-overlooking-boston-skyline shot. There's a reason tours stop here. Spring comes a bit more cautiously to Boston than it does to New York, but when it comes it knows how to put on a show. Just in time for classes to be out, here's the sun on full display in Medford.

Abstraction
Made by apdonovan
for Week 14, Assignment 1. Abstract I had a little bit of trouble with this assignment. The weather here has been cold and rainy for pretty much the entire week, so my shooting has been restricted to what's in my house. This was the best shot I got out of my 4th attempt.
