For What it's Worth
Made by jocountry2009
For What it's Worth - Buffalo Springfield One of my all time favourite bands! I found this awesome clip and had to put a photo to it (Note: The Smothers Brothers was also one of my FAVES and this was live on their show - check out Tommy's face) A little trivia for the younger generation who might not know this incredible band or realize what a Super Group they were and how many iconic artists were to come out of it's short 25 month time together. Buffalo Springfield is a North American rock group among the first wave of North American rock bands such as The Byrds and Lovin' Spoonful to become popular in the wake of British invasion bands. Appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show served as a springboard for the careers of Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay and Jim Messina. Buffalo Springfield is best known for the song For What It's Worth, a political anthem written by Stills in response to an LAPD assault on young hippies. After the band's formation in April 1966, a series of disruptions, including infighting and the pressure of working in the music industry, resulted in constant changes in the group's lineup and ultimately culminated in the group's disbanding after roughly 25 months. Buffalo Springfield released three albums but left many demo recordings, studio outtakes and live recordings, as well as a reputation for excellent personnel and high band dysfunction.[1] Despite the band's short tenure and limited output it was one of the most influential bands of the 1960s, with several solo careers, subsequent bands, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recognition for Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and Neil Young separately. CSN, CSN&Y, Poco, Loggins and Messina, and Neil Young with Crazy Horse were immediate successors. In October 2010, Furay, Stills, and Young took the stage for the first time in 40 years as Buffalo Springfield at the Bridge School Benefits, as the final act of a show including Eddie Vedder, Billy Idol, Elvis Costello and Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristopherson, and Modest Mouse. Furay, when asked by Rolling Stone if a tour would follow, said he'd see how it felt after a couple of weeks. A planned tour was announced in June 2011. I will be at that concert when they come to Toronto :)

Bald Eagle!!
Made by Spiro Anassis
Must see in: The Bald Eagle is a large bird, with a body length of 70–102 centimeters (28–40 in), a wingspan of up to 2.44 m (96 in), and a mass of 2.5–7 kilograms (5.5–15 lb); females are about 25 percent larger than males. The adult Bald Eagle has a brown body with a white head and tail, bright yellow irises, and golden taloned feet and hooked beak; juveniles are completely brown except for the yellow feet. Males and females are identical in plumage coloration. Its diet consists mainly of fish, but it is an opportunistic feeder. It hunts fish by swooping down and snatching the fish out of the water with its talons. It is sexually mature at four years or five years of age. In the wild, Bald Eagles can live up to thirty years, and often survive longer in captivity. The Bald Eagle builds the largest nest of any North American bird, up to 4 meters (13 ft) deep, 2.5 meters (8.2 ft) wide, and one metric ton (1.1 tons) in weight. The species was on the brink of extirpation in the continental United States (while flourishing in much of Alaska and Canada) late in the 20th century, but now has a stable population and has been officially removed from the U.S. federal government's list of endangered species. The Bald Eagle was officially reclassified from Endangered to Threatened on July 12, 1995 by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. On July 6, 1999,

Puslinch Lake HDR fall2010 C
Made by KPEP
I went out to my little spot this past weekend with my good friend, and president of our photo club, Karen, and we spent some time shooting in the blue hour and through the sunrise. Then, went back into the woods and took some shots back in the bush... where she taught me a new photography method of creating abstract in camera To view karens photos please see her photos here... These three photos were all processed the same way... (my favorite being this photo) multiple exposures edited in Lightroom 3. 5 exposures ran through Photomatix PRO to create a relistic HDR image HDR image was run through Topaz DeNoise then Topaz Detail. Image was saved and further processing done in the RAW editor to adjust final colors. Then I took the proper exposed image and run it through heavy Topax Detail editing. This image was overlayed on the HDR image and the history brush was used to eliminate the overlayed image everywhere but on the trees and reflections and foreground rocks under the water. Final step was to focus on the fog and beef it up using a photoshop technique you can find online by googling the technique. Any image I post is for sale. I can be contacted through flickr or through my website, www.kpepphotography.com

Elder Tree Spirit
Made by Gregory Pleau
Ok, this is kinda one of those look at my light type shots, but I am having fun. The tree is located near a geocache, and when one of our vehicles got stuck in the snow, a few of us had time to kill while the others were off purchasing a tow strap. This tree was backlit by a factory in the distance, so I opened up the camera on a bulb exposure, and gelled the flash so it would match the incadescent lighting in the area. During the exposure I wandered around the tree and popped the flash a few times, particularly when I was behind it. SB-800 on full power, 14mm zoom. D200, 18 mm, ISO 100, 30 seconds f/7.1, cropped to square Update - August 2009. I drove by here the other day. The tree is gone now. #162 on Explore

This photo has bugged me for almost a year. It was taken through a ridiculously thick fog almost directly into the rising sun..... and, I like it, but I didn't LOVE it. Yes, I admit..... I occasionally am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my shots that I post here, and I always felt that as much as I loved this scene it was missing something (although I couldn't put my finger on what that was). Since I haven't had anything new for a while I decided to give this one more go with boosting the contrast and darkening the darks and I have to admit, I really like the result.

No April Fool - Guelph Coverd April 1 2007
Made by funrevival2
For those of you in Guelph... remember that foggy night April 1? Unfortunately, work slowed me down so I missed some great shots that were available earlier in the evening. At least I was able to get a few keepers. This is the Guelph Covered Bridge just off of Gordon along the walking trail. (id2849) NOTE: If you are in or near Guelph, why not look into our new Guelph Photo Club - our first meeting is on Saturday, May 12th. Hope to see you there

The Interrogation
Made by ARebbs
This was part of our 6 hour shoot yesterday in axelrod basement (that place is endless for shots it seems). I was mostly working with Dave on his but stumbled upon this room and had to take advantage (took about 30mins so my shots were quick :p). Lighting provided by a single 500W $8 light above and unscrewed all the other bulbs in the room. This was fun to shoot, I'm really happy with the result. Explorer April 2nd #78

little miss shy.
Made by sami k (the k stands for potassium!)
it sometimes surprises people to know how terribly, desperately shy i am. sure, i can give lectures and order coffee and introduce myself to people, and talk on the phone with library patrons and all that, but sometimes i just get utterly terrified. (incidentally, little miss shy has obviously also always been my favourite of roger hargreaves' books.)

bench
Made by sami k (the k stands for potassium!)
this bench was in a park, just sitting there. guess you can't really expect it to do anything but sit, given that it's an inanimate object and all. definitely was not moving at all, that bench. way to plant, bench. i just sit a lot, myself. next week i'll up and fly across the ocean. i'm scared as bloody fuck. this is mental.

Meet one of the resident barn owls at the Mountsberg Raptor Centre. Most of the birds that live there can't be re-released into the wild due to past injuries. Click the link to learn more about the centre and to see the different birds they house.
