Clock tower, Ivory House, St Katharine's Dock

The establishment of St Katharine dock can be traced back to the time of King Edgar (959-975), who had originally sanctioned the use of land here for trade. With the expansion of the Empire in the late 18th century that plans were drawn up to expand London's existing legal quays in the Pool of London. By 1852, the sheer volume of wool, tobacco, carpets, sugar and tea arriving at the Port of London meant that capacity was being exceeding again. New buildings were required to handle ivory imports, two new warehouses (now known as the Ivory House) were constructed.

Room with a View

This was the hotel room I was given while in London that directly overlooked the London Tower Bridge. It's probably not that exciting for people in England, but as a guy from Kansas, this was a very impressive view.
