Apparently where I'm stood for this, is a church. This was one of only a few successful panorama shots I took. It was very cold in the easterly wind and after about 15 minutes I was shaking so much I couldn't hold the camera still. This was taken on the tripod, which must have taken about 5 minutes to erect as my fingers wouldn't grip anything. 5 minutes of that and I could barely push the shutter any more so I resorted to the remote control. Very shortly after that the camera packed up due to the cold. I am therefore quite pleased to have proved to be more resilient than an electronic machine, which gives me much confidence that I will be OK when the Terminators invade.

Today we went up into the Black Mountains and walked (..climbed) up Ysgyryd Fawr. It was pretty hot and humid and the walk was really not helped with me carrying my entire camera bag with me!! Unfortunately the weather at the top was really hazy and the view of the surrounding mountains, including Sugar Loaf was not all that great.. The ND filters were never going to save me today! So instead it was back to the good old macro for some close up fun... So in summary... One heavy camera bag, up One big hill gets you One nice photo to look at... Must try harder!

Ysgyryd Fawr is the most easterly of the Black Mountains in Wales, part of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The name is often anglicised to The Skirrid or Skirrid Fawr, and the mountain is also known as Holy Mountain or Sacred Hill. Taken in the rock strewn vally below the main peak.

Not the best of photos, but the only one to show how this species might look like when you're out for a walk in the forest. Seen during a walk near to Abergavenny (Wales). The first time I've seen this species actually.

I'm in 2 minds about this shot. Part of me likes it, part of me thinks it's rubbish. Currently the first part of me is in charge. There'll be trouble when the other part realises I've uploaded it.

The clouds of doom were in the other direction, btw. These are the clouds of slightly lesser doom.
