The Palazzo From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search For other uses, see Palazzo (disambiguation). The Palazzo Facts and statistics Address 3325 Las Vegas Blvd Las Vegas, NV 89109 Opening date December 30, 2007[1] Theme European No. of rooms 3,068 Total gaming space 105,000 sq ft (9,800 m2) Permanent shows Jersey Boys Signature attractions The Shoppes At The Palazzo Lamborghini Dealership Casino type Land-Based Website palazzolasvegas.com The Palazzo (pronounced /pəˈlɑːtsoʊ/) is a hotel and casino resort located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, a suburb of Las Vegas. The Palazzo is owned and operated by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. The property's design is marketed as being reflective of a modern European ambiance and luxury living. Parts of the resort were opened to the general public on December 30, 2007.[1] The official grand opening took place on January 17, 2008. The $1.8 billion resort features a Lobby where guests from the street arrive beneath a 60-foot (18 m) glass dome with a two-story fountain. Those approaching from The Venetian make the transition through a towering octagonal structure, itself topped by a glass-and-iron dome. Visitors to The Palazzo using the underground parking structure can take elevators or escalators from the underground garage and arrive in the center of the property's casino. Though marketed and portrayed as a stand-alone resort, The Palazzo is actually an extension of The Venetian Casino Resort and the Sands Expo complex on the Las Vegas Strip.[citation needed] The Palazzo Casino, like some other casinos on the strip, operates under the license of a related casino—in this case The Venetian's license. The resort's 642-foot (196 m) high hotel tower features 3,068 all-suite rooms and 375 concierge-level suites. The Palazzo is LEED Silver Certified—the largest LEED certified building in the nation.[2] Currently under construction, the 270-unit condominium tower addition The St. Regis Residences at The Palazzo will be the first residential offerings at The Venetian complex. The high-rise tower is being built on top of the 90,000-square-foot (8,400 m2) building that houses the Barneys New York apparel store. On September 4, 2008, Las Vegas Sands announced that it had come to an agreement with Starwood Hotels & Resorts to operate the condo tower as a signature branch of The St. Regis Residences with all hallmarks of the St. Regis brand offered to residents. (April 2009) [edit] Lamborghini Las Vegas Lamborghini Las Vegas is the second authorized dealer in the Las Vegas area, featuring displays of exotic automobiles including Lamborghini, Bugatti, Spyker, Saleen, and Koenigsegg. The 20,000-square-foot showroom was decorated with Italian-imported marble and tile flooring, rich leather wall coverings, and vibrant artwork. Non-buying guests of the resort are granted admission to the showroom for $10, while children ages five and under receive free admission when accompanied by a paying adult. Admission to the showroom includes a Lamborghini Las Vegas lanyard, souvenir access pass, and a discount at the world's first complete Lamborghini accessories boutique on purchases over $100. [edit] The Shoppes at The Palazzo The Shoppes at The Palazzo feature boutique stores from the likes of Van Cleef & Arpels, Jimmy Choo, Piaget, Diane von Furstenberg, Chloè, Christian Louboutin, Catherine Malandrino, Anya Hindmarch, Charriol, and others. It also features an 85,000 square foot Barneys New York. [edit] History [edit] Construction Construction photo taken in July 2007As of February 27, 2006, the project had been under construction for over a year. Most of that time was spent digging the 4-story-deep hole to put in the underground parking structure. Then the building itself began gradually rising upwards. The steel fabrication and erection was supplied by Schuff Steel Company. By November 2006, the hotel tower had reached the 35th floor. Construction of the ground floors, including the parking garage and shopping center, were well under way. As of March 2007, the hotel tower's elevator core was complete, and the rooms area was rising to the top. The facade and windows were being installed on the lower floors. As of August 2007, the lettering on the side of the tower was finished and is topped out. As of December 20, 2007 the Palazzo was scheduled to open at least 1,000 rooms by December 28 in preparation for the Las Vegas New Years celebration. The casino and other areas of the Palazzo opened at 7pm on Sunday, December 30, after a delay of several days due to the Clark County permitting process. Upon its completion, the Palazzo displaced the Pentagon as the largest building in the United States in terms of floor space, by a margin of about 35,580 square meters.[3] The strucutral engineering was done by Walter P Moore. [edit] Film history An under construction Palazzo was the setting for an early scene of Ocean's Thirteen. The construction of Palazzo was featured on The Discovery Channel's Extreme Engineering. Was the shooting location of a few scenes in the third season finale of MTV's The Hills. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Palazzo www.palazzolasvegas.com/

Please View this Large! ....It really is a must. I've noticed more & more of my photos in the default (medium) size look pretty crummy...like it is way too compressed. This photo, and many of my others, look 10 times better viewed Large. I always look at my contact's photos in Large size in order to see all the details. Anyways, Treasure Island is one of the older resorts & casinos in Las Vegas. A couple years back they dropped their pirate theme, instead going for a more hip, trendy, and contemporary atmosphere. It's been a big improvement, but their crowd is still a little on the young side...just a few too many kids. So I stay elsewhere. Nothing really special about this photo. Just another hand-held, low-light HDR image. I pretty much only used my tripod for long exposures. Happy Monday everybody!!

Palazzo Glass Statue

Palazzo Glass Statue
Made by vw4ross
This frosted glass statue & water fountain stands in the main lobby of the Palazzo Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The chinese lanterns hanging from the rotunda were on display as part of the Chinese New Year celebration. Next to the Wynn, the Palazzo is my favorite hotel/casino in Las Vegas. The rooms are just as nice as the Wynn, the restaurants/clubs are great, and I typically have the best luck on the slot machines here! Once again, I didn't have my tripod with me, as I just finished having dinner there. Hand-held this at 1/10th of a second shutter with my 18-200VR lens. Unfortunately, I didn't have my Sigma 10-20mm wide-angle lens with me either, as that really would have been the way to go. Tone mapped this single RAW file, in attempt to bring out some detail in the marble and tile work.

SUSHISAMBA at The Shoppes at thePalazzo in Las Vegas. SUSHISAMBA offers a blend Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, music and design. Its first location opened in New York City in 1999 and now feature a total of six locations with 2 in New York, and other locations in Miami, Chicago, Tel Aviv and Las Vegas. Per SUSHISAMBA's website, the concept took its roots from the early 20th century when thousands of Japanese emigrants traveled to South America's fertile soil to cultivate coffee plantations. In bustling cities like Lima in Peru, and São Paulo in Brazil, the integration of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cultures flourished and at the dinner table hearty moquecas and colorful seviches found a place along side miso soup and tender sashimi. #9 - langoustine @ Bar Charlie, Las Vegas
Made by ehfisher
For your next offering we're doing a tempura of Icelandic langoustine with Kanzuri carrot and lemon. Like the rest of the dishes, we express the ingredients in more than one way. So, in the middle we have a langoustine dumpling which we've filled with lemon custard, like a soup dumpling. Next we have the tempura langoustine with tempura bits on the bottom. We do a sauce of carrots stewed down with thai chiles and kanzuri. And then the ribbon is carrot pickled in kanzuri and orange. Then we've taken some roasted carrots and made a salad, with a little cilantro and soy. We've finished that with a vinaigrette with nasturtium leaves and seacress -- Pairing: Orange juice with meyer lemon

#10 - scallop @ Bar Charlie, Las Vegas

#10 - scallop @ Bar Charlie, Las Vegas
Made by ehfisher
This is our diver sea scallop, which comes with the flavors of spinach, coffee, and turnip. Underneath there's a sauce of Bloomsdale spinach, a saute of Bloomsdale and Red Orach spinach. The cube you see in the back is a piece of kabu, which is Japanese turnip. We braise it in ponzu and coffee gastrique, the same gastrique we use to make the vinaigrette with the Rishiri-kombu and diced kabu. We wrap the braised kabu in its own leaf and steam it. The curl is flexible chocolate, with a little bit of cinnamon and cayenne. The vinaigrette is coffee gastrique, coffee oil, and vanilla. The Rishiri-kombu and kabu is scattered over the top. -- Pairing: orange juice with clover honey

#4 - Bluefin tuna chu-toro @ Bar Charlie, Las Vegas

#4 - Bluefin tuna chu-toro @ Bar Charlie, Las Vegas
Made by ehfisher
We're presenting tuna in two different forms: underneath the foam you'll see the roulade, it is filled with an umeboshi spoonbread, it's then lightly poached at about 58 degrees, so that you should get a nice texture of the cooked tuna. we as well have a sashimi of chu-toro coming from close to the collar, but not quite. It comes over a sauce of Nashi, which is asian pear, and a little bit of umeboshi as well as a Nashi relish dressed with a little bit of chive and olive oil. The foam is seawater… basically a dashi that has been 'amped up'. -- Pairing: umeboshi, meyer lemon, tonic

#6 - tuna tartare @ Bar Charlie, Las Vegas
Made by ehfisher
This is our second offering of tuna, a tartare. We take pieces from the akami, the toro, and the chu-toro, and combine them so you get what we think is the best combination of richness, flavor, and fattiness. It comes over a sauce of hijiki, as well as a daikon and greek yogurt flan. Next to it is a relish of hijiki and fermented daikon. We've quickly pickled a cucumber, and the crisp chip you see is a bit of battera kombu. There is a salad of daikon and red shiso, and a little bit of bonito powder. -- Pairing: grapefruit juice, tonic, rosewater

As anyone who’s been fortunate enough to visit the Italian countryside and seaports knows, the country is famous for its hospitality and a divine range of diversions. The Palazzo was created with precisely that in mind. The beauty of Capri. The luxurious serenity of Portofino. The couture of Milan. The culinary greatness of Tuscany. The graciousness of the people. Here, it all comes together to fashion the epitome of a lifestyle of luxury.

Natalie, Roberto, Nicole enjoying each others company. These three friends were at the pool at the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas, NV. They had made their way to Vegas from San Francisco, CA. Although, I've been thinking about starting my own 100 Strangers, I had not started until my wife and I were on this trip. I saw Natalie, Roberto, and Nicole pose this way for another one of their friends. I asked them if they would be part of my 100 Strangers. Thanks you guys...you were #1 of 100!

A Room With A View I

While in Las Vegas last week, we also stayed at the brand new Palazzo Resort and this was the daytime view from our window on the 41st floor. It was truly strange to be looking down at such huge resorts as the Mirage and Treasure Island. The snow covered mountains in the distance were gorgeous. The construction cranes in the foreground are building a residential tower over the Barney's NY store. Tomorrow, the same view at sundown, which was also spectacular but in a different way.

The New Years Eve fireworks above Treasure Island on the strip. I have wanted to do some kind of project to keep me thinking about composition and taking different shots. That's one of things I like about Flickr, theres always inspiration lurking somewhere. And this gave me the idea to do a 52 week series with my iPhone and the app Polarize. Fortunately, I am always snapping shots with my phone so I had a couple that I liked to back date to the start of the year :)

As its our final full day in Vegas today we spent the day soaking up the rays around the pool. It was ROASTING!!! So it came as quite a relief when some bird brought round ice cold towels to help keep cool. Later this evening we went to watched the Blue Man Group show inside The Venetian hotel... hmmm, what to say about that?... someone was taking serious amounts of drugs when they thought up this show!! Very strange!

This is my favorite image I have ever captured from big and bright Las Vegas. All the elements turned out just right on this one, it proves that with a little (and i mean tiny) Nikon Coolpix E5600 every now and then you can produce a real winner. I have never been in the Palazzo, I wonder if inside lives up to this? This image was captured in April 2008 with my Nikon Coolpix E5600. Enjoy!

#11 - saba / mackerel @ Bar Charlie, Las Vegas
Made by ehfisher
Another spontaneous course: saba, Japanese mackerel, yakitori-grilled. We did this with roasted eggplant and cumin, and genmai miso. We yakitori grill the mackerel, and then we have baby eggplant in different ways: one, as like a salad, and another one as a puree, and also a sheet, grilled, underneath the mackerel. -- Pairing: plum and cranberry juice with bitters

Polar Bear Suffocation

Polar Bear Suffocation
Made by Plant Design Online
I promise after these photos to go back to nature pictures of Death Valley and vicinity, but these were too good to pass up. Giant two-story polar bears built from pale yellow Poinsettias. With truth this strange who needs to touch up their photos? Just another example of the outrageous, and ultimately ugly excess on display in Las Vegas.

This is the second pirate ship used in the Sirens of Ti public show, at the Treasure Island Hotel / Casino in Las Vegas. This ship comes sailing round the bend, and eventually (partially) sinks. The show features lots of simulated explosions with great geysers of water, and in this picture the ship is soaked to halfway up the first sail.
