Samuel Beckett Bridge

Samuel Beckett Bridge
Made by Star Cat
Better on Black Samuel Beckett Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge currently under construction in Dublin, Ireland, and is expected to join Macken Street on the south-side of the River Liffey, to Guild Street and North Wall Quay in the Docklands area. The architect is Santiago Calatrava, a designer of a number of innovative bridges and buildings. This will be the second bridge in the area designed by Calatrava, the first being the James Joyce Bridge, which is further upstream. Constructed by the Graham Hollandia Joint Venture, the main span of the Samuel Beckett Bridge is supported by 31 cable stays from a doubly back-stayed single forward arc tubular tapered spar, with decking provided for four traffic and two pedestrian lanes. It will also be capable of opening through an angle of 90 degrees allowing ships to pass through. This will be achieved through a rotational mechanism housed in the base of the pylon. The shape of the spar and its cables is said to evoke an image of a harp lying on its edge.[4] (The harp is a secular icon for Ireland and things Irish.) The steel structure of the bridge was constructed in Rotterdam by Hollandia, a Dutch company also responsible for the steel fabrication of the London Eye. The steel span of the bridge was transferred from the Hollandia wharf in Krimpen a/d IJssel on May 3rd, 2009, with support from specialist transport company ALE Heavylift.[citation needed] The bridge, named for Irish writer Samuel Beckett, is expected to open in 2010

Hard Rock Cafe Dublin

Hard Rock Cafe Dublin

The first Hard Rock Cafe (HRC) opened its doors to the public on June 14, 1971, in London, England. Founded by Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton, two enterprising and music-loving Americans, HRC was an instant classic, attracting droves of customers with its first-rate, but moderately priced, casual American fare, warm service and ever-present rock 'n' roll music and sensibility. Although it was initially decorated with an eye toward eclectic Americana, HRC has ultimately become the world's leading collector and exhibitors of rock 'n' roll memorabilia. I love the Hard Rock Cafe and whenever I get the change to visit one on one of my travels I always do and buy either shirts, sweaters, hats or whatever. Years going by I now have a huge collection and visited a whole lot of the HRC's worldwide.

Live act playing at the Porterhouse. When visiting Dublin, this is pub not to be missed. Dublin's first micro-brewery pub opened here in 1996 and, although others have since set up, The Porterhouse was at the cutting edge. Ten different beers are brewed on the premises and connoisseurs can sample a special tasting tray selection of plain porter (a classic light stout), oyster stout (brewed with fresh oysters, the logical development of a perfect partnership), Wrasslers 4X (based on a West Cork recipe from the early 1900s, and said to be Michael Collins' favourite tipple), Porter House Red (an Irish Red Ale with traditional flavour), An Brain Blasta (dangerous to know) and the aptly named Temple Brau.

When a lovely girl asks if you'll take photos of her, you oblige, of course. When, at a very early hour of the morning, everyone decides it is best to continue the shoot the next day, you vow to do something about the horrible lighting you had. Not traveling with all my equipment, I had to improvise: The Morgan has a nice white umbrella which I attached my flash to, and which would become a shoot through umbrella. Unfortunately, she had to cancel owing to a nasty hangover. But now you know what to do...

SPNP Instruction #17 Take pictures where you're not comfortable, where you feel exposed, threatened, or morally on the wrong side. - Mirko Martin The uncomfortablness of the situations was in shooting at Temple Bar a night, full of *excited, drunk* people, and then on top of it clearly following these girls (and their legs). The distance between dont minding a photograph being taken of you, and aggravation is very short, shooting someones legs only does also feel awkward,

If ever there was a Hard Rock Cafe in the perfect location, it would be Dublin. It's smack-dab in the middle of the touristy nightlife area of Temple Bar. When I stopped for a bite during a pub crawl, I was well taken care of and had a great dinner. You can read about my visit over at Blogography.

-Hard Rock Cafe Dublin. Changed the perspective and the exposition a bit with Photoshop. Was a little crowded and we couldn't get a table to have a drink so we bought a T-shirt and watched all the rock 'n' roll memorabilia. Quite a good place to be / work. .... with a not so pleasant experience. Except a Pint that we had to get ourselves, we did not get anything and left without eating. M. posted this on their Facebook page and to their defence, they reacted and requested the details by email. The management apologised and offered some merchandise. Will see what we get.

This guy was just standing casual as anything watching some buskers play. I'm surprised this shot turned out at all because he gave me the creeps so much. I just ran up and took his photo and ran away. Olympus Trip35 Fujicolour Superia X-TRA400

We really like this vintage Airstream trailer on the roof of the Morgan Hotel. It can offer a discrete meeting space even with a crowd milling about. Here's a video of the trailer.
