This mosque is situated within the Citadel of Salah al-Din set up by Suleiman Pasha, a server Ottoman governors of Egypt 1528 / 1529 AD The significance of this mosque is that it is the first mosque established in Egypt by the Ottoman-style. It was built on the ruins of an old mosque of Abu Mansour and caught up to Alexandria in the Fatimid era, year 535 AH 1141 AD before the construction of the castle. The mosque consists of two sections covered with a dome in the center surrounded by half-domes are decorated with carvings interspersed with the writings of a variety of color and coating the walls from the bottom of the overalls and marble finish with a band of Kufic Qur'anic verses and flourishing through the mediation of the eastern wall of the platform and the mihrab of marble. The western wall and a door leading to the Second Section. The second section is a central courtyard open furnished floors with marble color is surrounded by four Eroqat covered domes mounted on contracts based on the shoulders and the western side of the courtyard a small dome by several graves of the structures of marble controlled end models of different headgear, which was prevalent at that time.
