Sarcophagus (13th Century)
Made by blackwellanthony83
This photograph was taken at The Black Abbey, Kilkenny. The abbey was founded as a Dominican Friary in 1225. The Friary survived the Black Death, although eight monks died in one day, but not Henry VIII who suppressed the Abbey in 1541. It was then converted into a courthouse. Today it has been restored and is now a parish church. Notable features include a large evocative interior with an excellent wooden roof, some unusual carvings, beautiful stained glass, a 13th-century nave and a 14th-century transept. This is one of the sarcophagi that are exhibited in the front yard, along the entrance way of the abbey.

Cathedral Church of St Canicen torni
Made by Antti Kekki
Päivän sankari-idea oli kiivetä Cathedral Church of St Canicen vieressä olevaan torniin. 30 metriä korkea, vuonna 849 rakennettu kapea torni (tähystys?) oli todella mielenkintoinen kiivettävä jyrkkine rappusineen yhden käden turvin.
