While traveling one often find oneself in different airports. Some are good some are bad, some are bid some are small. Some are beautiful and some are ugle.. well you get the point. This is Charles de Gaulle airport outside of Paris. The new Terminal 2 building, building komplex rather, has a lot of interesting modernistic arcitechture. This is the ceiling in one part. On the flip side of CDG airport I could mention that even though the architecture is quite nice the logistics of the place is quite strange which always make me worry that I will miss my connecting flight... You should watch this since that brings out a lot more details. My pictures aren't balanced for a white background and a lot of the finer details are lost in this small format.

Airbus A340-300

Airbus A340-300

The A340-300 flies 295 passengers in a typical three-class cabin layout over 6,700 nautical miles (12,400 km). This is the initial version, having flown on 25 October 1991, and entered service with Lufthansa and Air France in March 1993. It is powered by four CFMI CFM56-5C engines, similar to the -200. Its two closest competitors are the Boeing 777-200ER and, formerly, the McDonnell-Douglas MD-11, which is no longer in production. The A340-300 is no longer in production with the last of 217 -300s delivered to a private Russian customer in September 2008, with the final airline delivery to Finnair in July 2008. The A340-300 will be superseded by the A350-900. Source: Wikipedia

In the Hall 2F of CGD airport last evening... I had the Fr. Hardy's song VIP in my head when I took this photo. I love wait in airports, definetly... ...V.I.P. most important person to me V.I.P. bienvenue à Paris-Orly duty-free, just, just, hail me V.I.P. première classe, accueil garanti V.I.P. like a glass of Glenmorangie... lyrics by Fr. the french take that expression to the extreme, and while the 2F terminal at the Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris is one of the most beautiful i've seen. The airport itself is the most disfunctional, inefficient i've been to in the past few years. If you're flying from JFK to Beirut through Paris, the plane takes 20 mins+ to taxi, then you take a bus to the 2E terminal, then you walk a bit inside the 2E terminal then you take another bus ride for 40mins to get to the 2F terminal!!!! (This happens to me after having spent 6 hours over the atlantic, 2 hours at JFK and 40 mins commuting from Manhattan...)

71/365: Modes of Transport. March 12, 2010. During a 6 hour layover at Paris/Charles de Gaulle airport, I caught this juxtaposition of the Cartier sign in the duty free, the line of wheelchairs behind the same glass, and the China Eastern Airlines A340 prepping for departure to Shanghai. And, for once, I didn't get jumped trying to take photos in an airport.

Charles de Gaulle has a traditional flight information display system, in which the individual letters/numbers flip as opposed to being one big television/computer screen. These seem to be more and more rare as the years pass, so it's nice to see one in a fancy modern terminal such as CDG 2F.

A detail of one of the terminal 2F satellite's glass and steel cover, CDG airport, Paris, designed by the French architects Jean-Michel Fourcade, Christine Fremont, Gilles Goix and Louis Fachin. The terminal was nice and bright, and the roof has a nice geometrical pattern.

Charles de Gaulle airport. Not the first time I'd been through and admired this architecture that lets so much light through. It really does look like the hull of an overturned boat here, but in real life I find it just feels very open.

No offense to the French, but for a nation that prides itself on its culinary output, the restaurants at the airport suck. Not much else to do but wander around and take photos of the architecture in Terminal 2F.

Roof of the departure lounge in Terminal 2F, Paris Charles De Gaulle airport. It looks a bit like an upturned boat hull. The terminal is designed by Paul Andreu, also the architect for the in Beijing.

The way I read this, this seat is reserved for morbidly obese women who can cross their legs, and for the terminally constipated.

Charles de Gaulle airport has some incredible neo-international style architecture. Too bad this airbridge leaks like a sieve.
