Kate has finally felt the baby moving. In pregnancy, this is known as quickening. Not to be confused with the same term as used in the Highlander movies: The Quickening is the sensation that an Immortal experiences when he beheads another Immortal. It is accompanied by flashes of lightning-like energy and the destruction of other items around him. ...Awesome.

...but it soon became apparent that Gaurang was playing a trick on us and had hidden himself to witness the fun. Eyas kept throwing things and yelling at him to get down, but Gaurang seemed happy, crawling around in his new hiding place, so we let him stay. As far as I know, he’s still up there right now, watching as we work.

Food, Glorious Food!

Everyone stands politely in a circle with huge eyes and pools of drool collecting at their feet, waiting for that first grab at one of the dishes. After that, well...let's just say several of us had to go out on short term disability after a number of shoving incidents.

Pregnancy.org states, Studies have found that newborns will suck more vigorously when read to from a book they heard frequently in utero. Since I don't want my kid to suck at all, I've been reading to it from a book that it is not likely to ever see again after birth.

According to this diagram, our baby has taken up yoga. Next week, it'll be guitar lessons or scrapbooking classes. Baby isn't *really* interested in any of these activities, but you've got to pass the time somehow when you're trapped in a fluid sack for nine months.

Christmas cards went out today. Possibly the earliest ever for me. If you don't get one, either we have your address wrong, or you need to do something to get on our card list. (Hint: We sent cards to people we don't even like, if they sent us a card last year.)

Gaurang must be getting very forgetful in his old age, because he showed up for work every day last week even though he was not scheduled to come in. He did about as much work this week as he usually does, but at least he was much quieter.

You'd think the person who teaches our shipping training would realize that opening a present that has Ho Ho Ho printed on the outside upside down makes it look like they are actually opening a present that has Oh Oh Oh printed on it.

Our baby currently has transparent skin. I can't imagine what that would look like...except that I know *exactly* what that would look like, thanks to the Body Worlds exhibit now showing at the Franklin Institute!

People ask me if I'll be ok when I have to change diapers. In my job, I have been extensively trained to handle and dispose of all types of hazardous materials. So, yeah, I think I'll be ok.

Sure, this product is intended to be used for positioning pediatric patients during x-rays, but it may be well worth its $3000 price tag to keep our little one from getting into trouble.

Did you ever notice that this toy is in absolutely every pediatrician's waiting room? I suspect these toys are secretly designed to prepare children for making necklaces in sweatshops.

Ryan surely doesn't stand a chance against Su, unless of course his eyes have secretly been equipped with million dollar ping pong ball laser tracking devices. ...Nope, they haven't.

There has been much debate about what exactly is being seen in our baby's ultrasound pictures. I've constructed based on my knowledge of anatomy, fetal development, and comic books.

Ana claims to be the taking pictures with her iPhone, but we all know that what she is holding is really the lump of coal Santa gave her last year, with an Apple sticker on the back.

Baby is going through the motions of crying, but without air it doesn't make a sound. In utero no one can hear you scream. Another Alien movie reference? This is getting disturbing!

Matilda in Her Sleigh

Matilda shows up for the party wearing her red fake muscle suit. She wears this when meeting new people so that she can seem bulked up and intimidating if she doesn't like someone.

The nursing strike at my hospital is now reaching a month in duration. I hope Kate doesn't go on a nursing strike when our baby comes, or else we'll have to raise it on formula.

Kurt attempts to avoid the crowd by heating up his dish in the back office microwave. Little does he know that we have instituted a $5 carge for each use of this appliance.

Approximately one out of every three women in the United States gives birth by Caesarean section. This doll is not making me feel any better about the possibility.
