Day 26 - Big toys.

Lazy me 9: Fitness me 3 09/12/10 Today was my first sports car photo shoot. Am I correct in saying this is a sports car? I don't know. It's a Lancer Evolution (I had to ask my husband again for the model). My complete ignorance in cars and car parts didn't stop me from getting some cool shots though =) James, the owner of this very snazzy vehicle, took us on a little ride this past Friday for lunch where we had at one point reached speeds of 120mph. I have a slight phobia when it comes to riding in cars and needless to say I screamed like a little girl. A lot. James races on closed tracks and had been asking me for months to come out and take some action shots. Which I can't do without a proper lens and I wasn't about to put on a helmet and wait on the side of the track while hell on wheels comes hurtling towards me. We settled on some still photos at a parking garage downtown. Too bad I couldn't get his gorgeous wife to sit on the car and model for me, it would have looked even better! Photo: Rain was imminent but it held off until after the sun went down. I had Jason hold the speedlight shooting through an umbrella to camera left. If you look close, you can see my reflection in the car. Photographing shiny objects is pretty tricky and with a huge vehicle, you really need a lot of diffused light which means more gear...of which I don't have so I made do with natural light and my tiny umbrella. I'll be posting some more photos from the shoot on my website soon. Oh yah, we're working a new website (more of a blog really), it's up but not quite ready yet. I'm super excited about how clean it looks compared to the clunky old one. Website Facebook

4/18/2009 Lunch at Urban Flats in downtown Orlando, eating a reuben flat; tasty! Also at Barcamp Orlando today; I did my home beer brewing talk as a lightning talk (was requested) and did a pretty terrible job. Luckily, only a hand full of people were there (~10?) as I was the very last talk. Fun and exhausting day!
