Tokyo Sky Tree 634m

Made by Le Velo Indigo
14 July 2011,Japan. The Tokyo Sky Tree (東京スカイツリー, Tōkyō Sukai Tsurī), formerly known as New Tokyo Tower (新東京タワー, Shin Tōkyō Tawā), is a broadcasting, restaurant and observation tower under construction in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan. It has been the tallest artificial structure in Japan since 2010.[1] The tower reached its full height of 634.0 metres (2,080 ft) in March 2011 but will not be finished until at least late 2011. The project is being led by Tobu Railway and a group of six terrestrial broadcasters (headed by public broadcaster NHK). Construction of the tower is scheduled to be completed by December 2011, with the public opening on 22 May 2012.[2] The completed structure will be the centrepiece of a massive commercial development located equidistant from Narihirabashi Station and Oshiage Station. One of Tokyo Sky Tree's main purposes is as a television and radio broadcasting tower. Tokyo's current broadcasting tower, Tokyo Tower, is at 333 m (1,093 ft), and is no longer tall enough to give complete digital terrestrial television broadcasting coverage because it is surrounded by many high-rise buildings. The Tokyo Sky Tree is currently the tallest tower in the world. It is taller than Canton Tower (600 m (1,969 ft)); the tallest structure on an island, taller than Taipei 101; and the second tallest structure in the world, after the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_Sky_Tree

2006 Xmas day. I was in Japan taking this shot. A room in ホテルニューあづま, a wonderful hotel, I strongly recommend it ^_^ I was my first day in my first, and only, trip to Japan. A month of joy, a month of discoveries. A month I learned lots of things about how Japan works. A long-time wanted trip. Now, it's time to come back again. I'm coming to Tokyo, for 3 month to study Japanese. Me in Tokyo, Best! ^_^ This shot reminds me the excitement of being where I want to be. The pleasure of feeling so fine, of eating my meronpan every morning, maybe a Matsuya for lunch, and a soba salad for dinner. That railway companies thank you for using their trains, where I don't fear for my wallet to be stolen, lots of things I love about Japan. So, I'm coming back to keep on enjoying them and feel and experiment new things. Spring is good time, right? ^_^ See you in Tokyo!

The Tokyo Sky Tree is a new tower, which when completed, will be the tallest structure in Japan and the the tallest tower in the world. Formerly known as the New Tokyo Tower, the Sky Tree (634 meters) will be almost double the height of it's older brother (333 meters). It is already pretty impressive looking... And that's just the first observation deck. They put up a viewing platform along the tracks near Oshiage Station where people can snap photos. I nearly peed my pants looking out from Tokyo Tower, so I'm not sure Ill be getting the bird's eye view from this one. Tokyo Sky Tree. Sumida, Tokyo.

i took three lines across town to see this mammoth thing they're putting up and by the time i got there it was 7 minutes till the last train of the night so i snapped this and ran back. anyway, not the prettiest tower on earth, but it is the tallest. can't tell if these black bars help or hurt. i don't think they're particularly great but then when i look at it without, it seems sort of bland.

Taken in Tokyo, Japan. I felt it would be time for another picture now. Well, and there it is, featuring the skytree in Tokyo. It's the highest tower on earth since march, when it hit the 600m mark. I'll be busy-- probably I can't comment back. Sorry for that. __ Regarding the Earthquake: I am fine; and so is everyone I know. We were all lucky! I hope everyone will cover up from the damages caused by the quake and the tsunamis!

Do you like Japanese food? What's your most favorite Japanese food? Sushi, Sashimi, Sukiyaki, Shabu Shabu, Tempura, Ramen, Yakitori, Tonkatsu, Okonomiyaki, Udon, Soba, Donburi, Gyoza (originally it's a Chinese food, but now someone say Gyoza is a Japanese food), Miso soup, Oden, Japanese curry and rice, Niku Jyaga, Tofu, Natto, ... oh so many Japanese foods we have! Tokyo Sky Tree Its height is 539 meters today. I thought It wouldn't be interesting to shoot the tower during the daytime. But it is still under construction, so there's no lights on. So I visited there at the time of sunset, shot the tower before it gets dark. I like the clear winter sky, and the contrast between the tower and the residences.

Taken in Tokyo, Japan. And another one from the train. While I was sitting and the train was rather full, I spotted that bright little thing not too far away from me. Naturally I picked up my camera and took a picture of the little girl's foot. Even though I have never seen her face...

Kyojima is about 2-3 miles east of Ueno, Tokyo. The roads are very narrow and there are many old shops and businesses with homes mixed in. The nearest stations are Oshiage (Hamzomon and Asakusa subways) to the South West or Keisei Hikifune (Keisei Line) to the North.
