Agro Wilis (Eksekutif) 05/03/2011 06h48 Interior shot of the Eksekutif coach of the AGRO WILIS, the express train from Bandung to Surabaya. We took this train from Bandung to Solo. More than 8 hours and exactly 448 kilometers with beautiful landscapes on our way. Best is to sit at the left side of the coach because of the view. This coach is fully airconditioned and all seats are reclineable and turnable in the driving direction. At the end of the coach there is a television screen for announcements and onboard entertainment (music videos and movies). Kerata Api | Rail transport in Indonesia Most rail transport in Indonesia is located on the island of Java, which has two major rail lines that run the length of the island, as well as several connecting lines. The island of Sumatra has three (soon to be four) unconnected railway lines in the northernmost province of Aceh, North Sumatra (the area surrounding Medan, West Sumatra (Padang and its environs), and South Sumatra and Lampung. Indonesia's railways are operated by the state-owned PT Kereta Api, and the newly-formed PT Kereta Api Jabotabek, operating the commuter lines in the Jakarta metropolitan area. The infrastructure is government-owned, and the companies pay a fee for the usage of the railway lines. Indonesia's rail gauge is 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in), although 1,435 mm (4 ft 8 1⁄2 in) and 750 mm (2 ft 5 1⁄2 in) lines previously existed. New construction in Aceh has the 1,435 mm (4 ft 8 1⁄2 in) gauge. Most of the Jakarta metropolitan area is electrified at 1500 V DC overhead. [ Source and much more information: Wikipedia - Rail transport in Indonesia ]

Stasiun Kerata Api Bandung [elevation +709] 05/03/2011 06h37 Our train journey to Solo began here at the central station of Bandung. More than 8 hours and a total of 448 kilometers through West and Central Java. The most beautiful train journeys I've ever made so far. Platforms are accesible by a simple crosswalk. No tunnels or bridges, just mind the trains in motion and use your common sense.
