On the 4th of May ceremonies are held throughout The Netherlands in remembrance of the victims of World War II. After the ceremony at the War Memorial on the Stadhuisplein (City Square) this man briefly looks at the wreaths in a contemplating attitude. The sculpture was made in 1953 by Mari Andriessen who played an active role in the resistance movement in Haarlem. See where this picture was taken.
