This former cattle hall (Rinderhalle) was part of Vienna's abattoir in the 3rd district. Built more than 100 years ago, it closed down in the 1980s and is now a listed building that was recently refurbished to be part of a larger urban redevelopment project in the St Marx area of Vienna. To my knowledge, its future use has not been decided yet, but one idea was for it to serve as an exhibition space for the Museum of Modern Art. Should this really be the case in the end, I cannot think of a more fitting artist than Hermann Nitsch doing one of his 'performances' for the opening. This would certainly close the circle.
