This 1928 courthouse has a few neat monuments around it that makes it more interesting. It is a relatively simple, but elegant, brick courthouse that was designed in Classical Revival style by the prolific Texas courthouse architect Henry T. Phelps. San Patricio County was named for the Irish colonial seat of power established in Texas under Mexican rule back when empresarios McMullen and McGloin were bringing families into this area. The original name of the colony's seat was Saint Patrick, but it was converted to the Spanish name. This county is located just to the north of Corpus Christi.
