715/757 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC. -Vancouver's main Post Office from 1910-1958. - During its early years the Post Office's landmark clock tower chimed each hour and half hour. - Described as Edwardian Baroque style combining English and French architectural influences. - Minute hand on clock weighs 92 kgs./202 lbs. - It used to take three days for the controlling weights of the clock to completely travel the tower's 69 foot shaft. - The cost of restoring the building in 1986 as Sinclair Centre was $38 million. - The historic Atrium clock was built in 1909 by John Smith & Sons, Derby, England and is the largest clock movement in western Canada. The four, 12-foot diameter clocks were restored in 1986 by Landmark Clocks.

during my lunch hour, I like to get out of the office and go see other people working. I loved how the artists are open about their art, their approach - and I watched how she created the spiral inside of her mosaic, little stone by little stone. I will visit the display again tomorrow, and see whether they are working on new pieces.

this statue is facing the entrance to the Canada Passport office. Usually live people waiting for a Canadian passport don't look quite this happy. Not after three months of waiting, anyways.
