Since opening the first studio in what was the former flour silo room of Long Island City's landmark Silvercup Bakery in 1983, Silvercup Studios has been the largest film and television production facility in New York City. Silvercup's Studios has served as currently home to HBO's The Sopranos and Sex and the City, NBC Universal/Broadway Video Television's 30 Rock and ABC/Touchstone's two new shows Knights of Prosperity and Six Degrees. The facility has also hosted QVC's home shopping channel, Q2, which broadcast live, 18 hours per day. Over 400 hundred commercials are produced annually including campaigns for Wendy's, Olive Garden, Old Navy, Victoria's Secret, The Gap, Verizon and MCI. Among the feature films which have been shot at Silvercup are The Devil Wears Prada, Little Children, Meet the Parents, Analyze That, Big Daddy, Little Nicky, Gangs of New York, Mickey Blue Eyes with Hugh Grant, Changing Lanes, Mr. Deeds, Hide & Seek, Stay, and the Night Listener. Silvercup Studios also provides facilities for still photography including shoots for fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Mirabella as well as The Source and XXL. Annie Liebowitz's famous cover shot for Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA album was shot here. Many music videos have been produced and shot at the studio for artists such as Beyonce, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Limp Bizkit, George Michael, Nine Inch Nails, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. The complex comprises a total of 13 shooting stages on its Main Lot (Roof and Loft spaces are also available) located at 42-22 22nd Street in Long Island City, ranging in size from 3,000 to 18,000 ft2 and five 16,000 ft2 studios and one 9,400 ft2 (each with grid heights of 28') on its East Lot which is located at 34-02 Starr Avenue, in Long Island City.
