Ok, I'm getting obsessed with this spot, but it's just that everytime I go there, there are more shoes hanging! As Robberta says, the thread will soon collapse! ;) I wonder a lot about the reason why somebody should throw his/her shoes up on a thread....then I noticed that there is a man - homeless probably, always drunk - who proudly tells everyone that he is the artist and he even asks for money when you take a picture of the shoes! The morning I took this picture, there was a film crew filming on this street, so I doubted they hung all the shoes! It was a very big film production, and I think it might be for the movie David Schwimmer (the actor who plays Ross in Friends) is shooting (for his director's debut) in Shoreditch! Keep posted to see if the thread will collpase under the weight of all those shoes! ;)

With various people hanging around outside here is an outside shot of LUL's Shoreditch Station. As befits a last day in service you'll note the black bunting hanging above the entrance. It's odd to think that this almost rural looking building is in a densely populated and relatively poor part of inner East London which itself is just metres away from the City of London.

The last time there'll be a LUL line diagram shown at Shoreditch. A poster showing the traditional East London Line service pattern under LUL operation. When the line reopens the service won't look anything like this and this location will be under a ramp taking the tracks to the new Shoreditch High Street station.

Location Shoreditch Station Notes Train No. 175 to Shoreditch pulls in at 2040, or something like that. Camera posing, and two random blokes in the cab that spoilt the continuity of the LU uniform. Those two shall now be known to me as muppets for as long as I live.

Shoreditch tube station closed permanentley in 2006. The station is due to be replaced in 2010 by Shoredich High Street Station on the site of the old Bishopsgate Goods Yard and will form part of the extended East London Line. Part of the set.

The future of Shoreditch was already in doubt by the time I took this photo in 1992. Back then, the abandoned platform sported a small garden (for the annual LT best kept garden awards), but appearing somewhat neglected here. 17 May 1992

Tucked away on Brick Lane. Interesting that the entrance sign is blue text on a white background as opposed to the usual white-on-blue lightbox. The green painted doors and panels add some 'character' at least.

Shoreditch really was the ultimate backwater of the Underground, seen with a train at the buffers.I think the concrete thingy above the train was something to do with the old Bishopsgate goods depot?

The station was the terminus of the East London Line from New Cross and New Cross Gate via Whitechapel. In 2006 the station closed to passengers and the building has been left to rot

To be honest I don't know if this is a power line or a phone line. I'd be surprised if it's either frankly because it's just off Brick Lane. Probably a phone line at a guess though.
