NYC - West Village: Sheridan Square Viewing Garden
Made by wallyg
Until 1981 the site of the Sheridan Square Viewing Garden was a traffic safety island / home for illegally parked cars and delivery trucks when a group of Village residents, led by the late Vera Schneider, formed the Sheridan Square Triangle Association. Designed by Pamela Berdan, it was landscaped and planted in 1982. The garden receives no financial support from the City. The sole source of funding is membership contributions from community residents and businesses. The garden features a central mound providing varied terrain for a rock garden on West 4th, an area of blue-hued plants on Washington Place, and a shaded, wooded area facing Barrow Street. Each spring, tulips bloom in the major beds, followed by azaleas, rhododendrons and crabapples. In the summer, other perennials and annuals bloom, and with autumn, the colors of the asters, geraniums and the changing foliage appear. All told, there are hundreds of varieties of flora and fauna in the garden.

Dave Van Ronk Street

Dave Van Ronk Street
Made by J Haeske
I just discovered processing this photo, that this street is called Dave Van Ronk street (although it is actually part of Sheridan Square between barrow Street and Washington Place and has been called DVR Street since 2004). Didn't realise when I took the photos, and hadn't really listened to any of his songs, which I have rectified in the meantime. He was fab ('The Mayor Of MacDougal Street') and a big influence (as well as a good friend) of Bob Dylan, who used to live with him for periods of time after coming to New York from Hibbing, Minnesota.

The Shenandoah on 10 Sheridan Square in West Village, New York City. This 15-story gothic structure was designed by Emory Roth and built in 1929. Fortunately, the original details are well preserved, making the historic structure stand out in the exclusive Sheridan Square location.

2 out of 3 that is... fantastic jazz band ~ you can see them at The Garage in Manhattan. I thought an impressionistic feel would work well with this image.
