The Mosque of the Prince (Sehzade Camii) was built between 1539 and 1548 by the Master Architect Sinan, one of Islam's great architects, for whom this was his first grand mosque, and for this reason, he named this mosque his apprentice work. The mosque was built on the order of Suleyman the Magnificent as an expiatory monument in honor of Crown Prince Mehmet, who he'd had killed. Being an ambitious son carried its dangers in those days!!
