(Gracias )

marching

Another attempt to freeze life in the city into a picture. Again shot on Florida street pedestrian zone. What the picture cannot really show is how many people were moving around there. I found it actually too full and on top of that we had like 30 degrees Celcius. The people in the bright part of the picture appeared to be marching, therefore the title... Post processing: making HDR from single RAW file in photomatix (actually I always develop three different versions in lightroom (-1,0,+1 EV) that I process in photomatix because it gives better control over noise). Then b&w conversion in lightroom with one of the artistic b&w presets (I choose everytime a different one, depending on the result). After that I add quite a lot of sharpening and then a lot of noise reduction which gives the kind of plastic appearance. Then in the end I sometimes (in this picture on the right side) I darken parts of the image with a graduated filter in lightroom. That's about it...

Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral

Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral
Made by Thad Roan - Bridgepix
HDR image of one of the chapels in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral. The Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral (Spanish: Catedral Metropolitana de Buenos Aires) is the main Catholic church in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is located in the city centre, overlooking Plaza de Mayo, on the corner of San Martín and Rivadavia streets, in the San Nicolás neighbourhood. It is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires. The Cathedral of Buenos Aires was rebuilt several times since its humble origins in the 16th century. The present building is a mix of architectural styles, with a 18th century nave and dome and a severe, 19th century Neoclassical façade without towers. The interior keeps precious 18th century statues and altarpieces, as well as abundant Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque decoration. (Wikipedia)

Y ahora... ¡nieve en Buenos Aires!

Y ahora...

Life on the Subte

Life on the Subte
Made by Airships
The A Line of the Subte metro system, at Peru station. Buenos Aires, Argentina. Many people seem to prefer the , but I think the original tells more of a story; the crop is just a picture of two lovers; the original puts it more in context, and emphasizes the contrast between the two people, who see nothing but each other, with the fact that life goes on around them: Cropped Version What do you think?

messenger

After doing other things lately I felt the need to do a street shot again. I decided to process one of the pictures that I took on the streets of Buenos Aires. This is one of the many messengers roaming the city. Usually they are on motorbikes but this guy was riding a bicycle on the street. I couldn't resist to snap a picture when he drove by the pedestrian crossing that I was waiting at. shot with: Canon PowerShot S90 @ 6mm, f/4.0, ISO 80, 1/1000 sec

This is a shot of people crossing the street in Buenos Aires shot from foot-level... I developed three differently exposed TIFF files from the RAW-file of the shot (-1, 0 +1 stop). These three files I used to make a pseudo-HDRin photomatix. The resulting file I converted to black and white (actually it is more sepia-like) in lightroom. Finally I put the exposure up on the right and left of the man in the center by using graduated filters.

This is one of my street shots that I don't like so much. Anyways I decided to upload it because I didn't manage to shoot anything new and don't have time to dig deeply into old shots to find stuff worth processing. This picture shows an older man using a cane to walk in the midday heat of the busy Florida Street in downtown Buenos Aires.

It's fun to shoot in the middle of the city kneeled down to get this foot-level perspective. I'm still getting to much junk and I'm afterwards so busy deleting pictures but some are worth showing. Like this one for example. I think that the guy on the left of the traffic light is looking at me actually adds something to the picture...

Staring at the sun Afraid of what you'll find If you took a look inside Not just deaf and dumb Staring at the sun I'm not the only one Who'd rather go blind 'Cause I am due for a miracle I'm waiting for a sign I'll stare straight into the sun And I won't close my eyes Till I understand or go blind (till I understand or go blind)
