The San Diego Zoo also operates the San Diego Wild Animal Park, which displays animals in an even freer condition than at the Zoo. Some animals are regularly exchanged between the two locales to provide them with a regular change of scenery.

This is a series of photos of the California Building bell tower. I have photographed this scene many times from different locations and at different times of the day and night. These are just some examples. The California Tower rises 200 feet. At its top is a weather vane in the shape of a Spanish ship similar to Cabrillo's. Inside the tower, a 100-bell symphonic carillon plays the standard Westminster chimes every quarter hour and a five minute recital at noon. The bells are operated from two keyboards on the third floor of the California Building. Usually they are played automatically with reels similar to those of a player piano. Occasionally, however, a carillonneur presents a live recital.
Cabrillo Bridge - San Diego, California

The Cabrillo Bridge in Balboa Park was built for the Panama-California Exposition and dedicated on April 12, 1915 by Franklin D. Roosevelt. It is now easily seen from the scenic Cabrillo Freeway (State Route 163), which is located on the floor of the canyon below. The bridge is a popular route for rollerbladers, cyclists, joggers, and park walkers. You can see some stunning views of downtown San Diego to the south, the San Diego Zoo to the north, and the vertigo-inducing freeway below. This is a small stitched (panorama) image.

There are many little courtyards like this in Balboa Park in San Diego, California. This is an HDR composite of 6 photos. I'm still trying to figure out this HDR business. The tone mapping has me sort of stumped, but I'm slowly understanding how to do it. I can see some haloing on parts of this image. I probably caused that when doing the composite.

I'm still experimenting with HDR photography. I'm trying to end up with an image that still looks realistic. I've discovered that it takes a lot of practice doing the tone mapping to get it right. Hopefully, I will improve as I learn more. This photo was taken in the late evening. I was facing east as I took this photo.

These buildings have an interesting color, but even more so when the late evening or early morning sun strikes the buildings. It adds a sort of golden hue to them.
