737-700

737-700
Made by caribb
Westjet's 737-700 with winglets arrives from Calgary or Vancouver. *Airplanes 101* (See Airplanes 101 Set) Name: Boeing 737-700 Manufacturer: Boeing (USA) . Main Role: small-medium capacity short-medium range mainline jetliner Basic design: Two engines single aisle narrow body jet. Airframe based on the Boeing 707. It is essentially a 737-300 replacement. Capacity: Roughly 126-149 passengers Range: 2800km -3200km First delivery date: 1997 Still in production in 2006: Yes Easily confused for: A319, A318, A320, 727 & other models of the 737 Main identifying points: Look for the classic Boeing cockpit windows with 4 eyebrow windows above the main windows although in the most recent examples all the eyebrow windows have been eliminated, Two traditional wing mounted engines, less oval shape than the 737-300 or -400 because of the new larger and higher wing, winglets are an option so they may or may not be on them... if so like in the photo they are blended winglets swept up very high and quite dramatic, a kinked leading edge on the tail and the tail cone shown in the picture. This is a very popular selling plane and you'll likely see it at any major airport worldwide. Examples of Main Operators: Continental, Westjet, Delta, Southwest, China Southern, Aeromexico just to name a few. For more pics of 737 aircraft see the group here at Flickr.

An ironically named TND under construction by Bombardier, the aerospace giant, on the site of a former airport north of Montreal (but on the island). Note the public golf course, not interwoven with the houses as is common in the US, and the predominantly attached housing; it also has some charming street names. It's conveniently under the Dorval flight path. (July 2005) Oddly, there are many airport-reuse TNDs out there, including Stapleton in Denver, Playa Vista in Los Angeles, North Richland Hills in Ft. Worth, Mueller in Austin, The Glen in Glenview, Ill., Baldwin Park in Orlando, and at least a sliver of El Toro in Tustin, Calif.

Hydro Quebec Dash 8

Hydro Quebec Dash 8

I was a bit surprised to see this C-CJNL in Hydro Quebec's colours. Normally they fly a Q400 in and out of Montreal so this is my first siting of a -300. Nothing special but always fun to spot something you haven't see before or seen often. *Airplanes 101* (See Airplanes 101 Set) Name: Dash-8 Manufacturer: Bombardier (DeHavilland Canada) (Canada) Main Role: small capacity, short range regional propellor aircraft Basic design: twin engined top fuselage mounted, single aisle narrowbody propellor airplane.

A Blast from the Past -CP Air's Boeing 737-200 C-GCPX #718 lands on 24L at YUL in the Fall of 1982. Two Air Canada DC-8s sit at the Air Canada base on the other side. This funky orange livery was way ahead of it's time and reflective of how society in the past was much more at ease with colour and pretty much life in general. Today it's all about making sure you don't offend the money spending people of the world and tailoring to their generally conservative tastes. ****Apparently I Flew C-GCPX YUL-YYZ with Canadian Airlines.

Window Shopping

Window Shopping
Made by caribb
A couple of years ago I went up to the Air Canada maintenance base at YUL and passed Bombardier's CRJ manufacturing plant. They also produce the Challenger and Global Express business jets here too... Sure enough you could literally window shop outside the plant, LOL.. Five Global Express business jets were being worked on and unintentionally displayed (or perhaps not) for anyone passing by like a storefront window.

Red and White Smart Car Fortwo Coupes.

Two Smart Car Fortwo coupes photographed through the window of the Montreal Silver Star Mercedes-Benz dealership on Decarie Boulevard near Ferrier. They were building an annex onto the Mercedes dealership specifically for selling Smart Cars, but it wasn't yet complete at the time I took the photo, so the Smart Cars were on display in the Mercedes showroom.

The Stare

I was walking through a nature park which is neighbored by a residential area so I gather he came from one of the homes. He probably visits the park often. I was walking along the path when I noticed him coming out of the field along a small path, and being a cat lover I wanted to play with him so I called him over. He was quite friendly and he let me pet him and even take a couple of photos.

Canada Geese at Cavendish & Hwy 40 (St. Laurent, QC)
Made by pickle.monger
A couple of Canadian Geese made their home in the little wooded area near BAE/CMC Electronics building at the corner of Cavendish Blvd. and Highway 40 in the summer of 2006. Some time later little chicks started appearing with them. I made sure to have my camera with me whenever I was in the area hoping to take a photograph. UPDATE: the geese did not come back in 2007.

Air Air Creebec Dash-8 lands on runway 24L... my spy shot through all the highway distractions. Yeah it's a horribly cluttered photo, I know. :) 07/07/20: Update - for you Montrealers... the bridge in this pic is one of the bridges listed to be unsafe for heavily loaded trucks in Quebec as determined from the de la Concorde overpass collapse inquiry.

What the hell is it? It looks like a shopping center, one of those big indoor malls. (Dawn of the Dead 1978) It's Place Vertu, in Saint Laurent, as seen from the air about half a minute before touchdown on Dorval Airport's 24R (CYUL- IZZ). Full-sized scan.

Between the speed of the plane, the jet blast from the left engine and the curvature of the window this pic isn't 100% sharp but you still get a good over view of the new Jetty. We departed from where the middle plane (OA 340) is on the right hand side of the photo.
