Please take your time... and enjoy it large on black Covering an area of 10,000 square meters (the size of two football pitches) on the basement of the luxurious Siam Paragon shopping mall, Siam Ocean World is one of the largest aquariums in Southeast Asia. With 30,000+ marine animals (Seals, Blue Ringed Octopus, Ragged-tooth sharks, Stingrays, Leafly Sea Dragons, Giant Spider Crabs, and Sharks of various types including Ragged-tooth, Black tipped, and Leopard) this is the largest aquarium in Southeast Asia and one of Bangkok’s most adventurous projects. Siam Ocean World take you through seven different environments starting with the strangely titled ‘Weird and Wonderful’, the ‘Open Ocean’, ‘Deep Reef’, ‘Rainforest’, ‘Rocky Shore’, ‘Living Ocean’, and ‘Sea Jellies’. Not only is it possible to walk through these environments observing marine life through the safety of thick glass windows, it is also possible actually get in Siam Ocean World's 2.8 million litre Oceanarium and meet the sharks face-to-face. For the less adventurous, take a ride in a glass bottomed boat. Photo taken at the Siam Ocean World - Bangkok. One have to find the limits of your camera and a steady hand. Aperture: 1/13s, f/2.0 and ISO Speed: 400. . Siam shopping mall complexity

Please take your time... and enjoy it large on black Siam Paragon operates since December 2005. It is a quite large shopping complex conveniently located at the Siam Square main skytrain BTS station. To move about the large shopping complex, you will find escalators in front of you. The area between MBK Center and Central Chitlom was already the major shopping area in Bangkok. Siam Paragon has certainly reinforced that. Probably few people were actually waiting for yet another megastore, but now it is there and attracts a substantial number of visitors each day. The store is spacious, and it is rather comfortable walking around. From a sporty yellow Ferrari to a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes straight from the set of Sex and the City, Siam Paragon is a shopping mall without rival in Southeast Asia when it comes to luxury goods. Covering an area of 10,000 square meters (the size of two football pitches) on the basement of the luxurious Siam Paragon shopping mall, Siam Ocean World is one of the largest aquariums in Southeast Asia. This shopping and entertainment complex is an upmarket, five-storey colossus with 500,000 square metres of retail space. The gleaming, modern mall opened in December 2005 at a cost of 15 billion baht (US$ 375 million), and is home to more than 250 famed international and local luxury brands. Photo taken in the Siam Paragon Shopping, the world-class shopping destination, near Siam BTS Station - Bangkok Lighting and interior design inside Siam Paragon Shopping Complex are really well done. Looking again at this photo I don't understand it either.

Scala Cinema Staircase | Siam Square | Bangkok

Explore, Sep 8, 2009 #155 Built in 1967, with around 900 seats, the Scala is Bangkok's oldest single-screen movie theater. Being an ‘old-school’ kind of person, I also love watching my movies here. Ticket prices are a steal at only THB100 (about US$3). The Scala, one of Bangkok’s few remaining 60s-era movie palaces that hasn’t been torn down or turned into a transvestite cabaret, sits on a narrow alley leading off the hyper-congested Rama I Road at Siam Square. Nothing is new at the Scala, with the slighly stuffy and dim foyer and the staff wearing uniforms of an old epoch. When you enter the theater from busy Siam Square, two lonely old ticket booths with no computers welcome you. Walking up the wide stairs of the Scala is kind of being part in a Fellini movie. You enter a unique combination of memory, dreams, fantasy, the weird - and quiet desires. Beside a handful of older buildings left standing in Bangkok the 40 year old Scala is one of the last witnesses of a past era. The classic reception hall welcomes with a marble floor. As the floor, almost all of the fittings were imported from Italy - the country which gave Bangkok a lot of great architecture and magnificent landmarks - such as Hua Lampong Railway Station, Neilson Hays Library or Government House. Bangkok is literally littered with palaces designed and built by classic Italian architects. I think you would agree that the architecture here is quite unique (particularly for Thailand)!! This capture is for mennomenno who wanted to see the interior! Visit my website: Southeast Asia Images Link to Thailand’s premier image gallery:

. . . Keepers of the Crypt, that is. Tales from the Crypt was an American horror anthology TV series that ran from 1989 to 1996 and based on the 1950s EC Comics series of the same name. The series is not to be confused with Tales from the Darkside, another similarly themed horror anthology series. It was one of the few anthology series to be allowed to have full freedom from censorship by the FCC, because it was on HBO, a premium cable television station. Given that HBO often allows its shows to have more graphic material than most shows on American television, the station allowed the series to contain graphic violence as well as other content that had not appeared in most television series up to that time, such as profanity, nudity, and sexual situations. The series began as an American series, filmed in California. In the final season, filming continued in England and many episodes filmed during that time revolved around British characters. Photograph taken in Bangkok's the Golden Mount (Wat Saket). Wat Saket Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan (Thai: วัดสระเกศราชวรมหาวิหาร) to give it its full name is a 80-meter tall artificial hill, also known as Phu Khao Thong, and features an impressive golden chedi at its summit. I Dreamed a Dream

I Dreamed a Dream
Made by Zolashine
Now life has killed the dream she dreamed… Title: I Dreamed a Dream (click here to listen) A song from Les Miserables (also sang by Susan on Boyle) There was a time, when men were kind And their voices were soft And their words were inviting There was a time, when love was blind And the world was a song And the song was exciting There was a time it all went wrong I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high and life worth living I dreamed that love would never die I dreamed that God would be forgiving Then I was young and unafraid And dreams were made and used and wasted There was no ransom to be paid No song unsung, no wine untasted But the tigers come at night With their voices soft as thunder As they turn your hope apart As they turn your dreams to shame He slept a summer by my side He filled my dreams with endless wonder He took my childhood in his stride But he was gone when autumn came And still I dream he'd come to me That we would live the years together But there are dreams that cannot be And there are storms we cannot weather I had a dream my life would be So different from the hell I'm living So different now from what it seemed Now life has killed the dream I dreamed Location: Siam Center, Bangkok better if you play the song and view on black...thank you

New York, New York, so good they named . . . . . wait!
Made by grantthai
. . . this is not New York . . it's Bangkok. Even though the day was very hazy, as I said on , I didn't want to waste my 200 Baht in getting up the Baiyoke Sky Tower. A little bit of processing was needed in PS to remove the haze, and then converted to B&W which I think is better than the colour version. Note: New York, New York, So Good They Named It Twice is a song performed and composed by singer-songwriter, Gerard Kenny as an ode to his hometown, and state. Kenny wrote the song about myth versus fact and explains that the city is overall a great place (It was a really nice night for a good street fight or a robbery/But I always knew in my home town that would never happen to me). The line So Good They Named It Twice is a play on the fact the name of the city and state are both New York. New York, New York (as it is sometimes simply called) was the first hit for Kenny after a number of non-charting singles back home in the United States. In 1978, after moving to England the song was released. Although it got no higher than Number 42 on the UK Singles Chart, it remained there for two months. It also received much airplay, and was included on Kenny's Made It Through The Rain album, and the song's popularity helped the collection reach the top 20. Britain's Shirley Bassey later covered the song, as part of a medley of songs about New York City.

Bangkok Cosplay #1

Bangkok Cosplay #1
Made by I Prahin | www.southeastasia-images.com
Explore, August 22, 2009 #66 Cosplay (コスプレ, kosupure), short for costume roleplay, is a type of performance art whose participants outfit themselves, with often-elaborate costumes and accessories, as a specific character or idea. Characters are usually sourced in various Japan, South Korea, China, and Philippines media, including manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games, hentai and fantasy movies. Other sources include performers from J-pop, J-rock, visual kei, fantasy music stories (such as stories by the band Sound Horizon), novels, and objects from cyberspace or the real world that are unique and dramatic (especially if they have or can be given an anthropomorphic form). Cosplay participants (cosplayers) form a subculture centered around wearing their costumes and reenacting scenes or inventing likely behavior inspired by their chosen sources. In some circles, the term cosplay has been broadened to include simply wearing a costume, without special consideration given to enacting characters in a performance context. Captured at the Oishi Bangkok Cosplay, 2009 outside Siam Paragon Shopping Mall. The costumes, creativity and poses are a photographer's delight! “Hunger knows no friend but its feeder.” - Aristophanes I don't know where did their mother gone to. Is she still alive, I don't know...but I hope these little puppies will have enough foods to eat, water to drink, and shelter to sleep. They are living beings just like us. They deserve good life too. ------------------------------------------ Personal Note: Since I bought my new camera, I haven't got a chance to shoot anything before dark. But yesterday, I finally got a chance to shoot around 5 PM! I was waiting for the dentist yesterday at the clinic so I decided to shoot around that area, which is called Petchburi Road. The place that I shoot is under the highway that lead to the airport and there is also a railroad running below it. I came across these little puppies near the railroad so I decided to spend time with them. Personally, I'm scared of dogs, but these puppies are too adorable for me to be scared and not taking photos of them. This is my first animal photo and I hope I did ok on this one (don't forget I'm scared of dogs hahaha). I post processed this in LR2 since I'm not good in photoshop and my PS is kind of dead. Hope you like this vintage retouch :) TGIF! Have a great Friday! P.S. Thanks to for teaching me how to upload EXIF information of my photo :)

hand in hand ...but years apart in every other way Many older western men come to Thailand and fall in love.... with the climate, the food, the easy going lifestyle, but mostly with the women. Gracious, polite, understanding and gorgeous.... it is very easy to understand why it happens. For the girls, the sugar daddies are a way to gain security for themselves and their extended families... the age difference is often over looked, or accepted by all involved. But the age difference is often the main factor in why so many of these relationships end before they have even begun.... After the initial excitement that comes with any new relationship (regardless of age difference or not)... there soon comes the realisation that there is very little in common.....very little to say, and very little enjoyment for either party. The older man tries desperately to cling to his young sexy thing...and the girl, whilst she might want to run away, is tied to him by her financial dependency.... in the end, both parties can end up miserable and resenting each other....invariably, the girl does leave in the end.

Nak-Muay at Flat Sri camp during a training session. To Strobists: just one soft-box on the top right of the model’ head. « Flat Sri Klong Toey » is one of the most interesting camps I have visited in Thailand. The Nak-Muay who train there all live in the camp. They are aged 14 to 16 and practice 5 to 6 hours a day, early in the morning and at the end of the afternoon, attending school in between. Most camps in BKK are located in peaceful areas surrounded by grass and shady trees whereas Flat Sri is right in the middle of a crowded street, under a multi-level roadway which is used as a roof for the ring (!). A city within the city, Klong Toey is BKK largest slum ; its inhabitants suffer from many diseases : drug traffic, prostitution and one of the highest HIV positive / AIDS rates in town. And yet, whenever I visited Klong-Toey I would be greeted with such a genuine warmth by the people living there.

A Piece of Paper

A Piece of Paper
Made by Zolashine
A child is like a piece of white paper. A piece of paper that is ready to be filled with anything. And I mean anything at all. Those of us who are lucky enough, we have parent and teachers helping us draw those houses, foods, toys, and things those we like to put on our papers. These drawing are filled with colors. We kept on drawing, adding more beautiful and colorful things on our papers. But what about him? What did he fill his paper with? All I can see is dust and dirty smudges. No one held his hands and told him what to draw. No one even asked him what he want on his little dirty paper. All he can do is wait.... ... .. . Wait until someone came in to guide him... or Wait until his paper is full with dusts and no more space to fill in...

Bangkok’s Chinatown district (‘Yaworat’) is a photographers dream, particularly the myriad of small alleyways and markets. It is also a favored location of Hong Kong’s auteur film director, Wong Kar Wai. This particular image was taken in ‘Mai Market’ in a narrow laneway off the main thoroughfare. The fish in this image (tuna) were just slaughtered, their heads hung on hooks with mouths still moving; a very macabre display that you will not find in your local supermarket! There was no room to set up a tripod and the light was quite dim. The only option was to shoot with a higher ISO and in RAW. EXPLORE #165 - 21 March 2008. Thanks to everyone who stopped by. . . (Thai: ขิม; pronounced kim, with a rising tone, in Thai) is a hammered dulcimer from Thailand and Cambodia. It is made of wood and trapezoidal in shape, with numerous brass strings. It is played with two flexible bamboo sticks and is used as both a solo and ensemble instrument. The instrument was introduced to Thailand and Cambodia from China, where a similar (though usually larger) instrument is called yangqin; the khim produces a significantly softer sound. Traditional khim have two bridges, though in the late 20th century some players began using larger instruments with more bridges. [Wikipedia] Taken last night in Bangkok's King Power Pullman Hotel.

Sadly this beautiful temple is sandwiched between Siam Paragon and Central World Shopping malls on Rama 1 Road, Bangkok, and behind a main wall which fronts on to constantly noisy heavy traffic. The full name of the temple is Wat Pathum Wanaram Ratcha Wora Viharn. In Thai: วัดปทุมวนารามราชวรวิหาร. Founded in 1857 by King Mongkut (Rama IV) as a place of worship near his Sa Pathum Palace. At that time the area was still rice fields, accessible only via the Khlong (canal) Saen Saeb. The temple is a third class royal temple of the Thammayut Nikaya order. This is a 3xp hdr given faux tilt-shift treatment to isolate the main temple building which has stunning classical Thai architecture.

Yesterday was photojournalism, but today was random cinematic street. Thank you for tolerating my randomness. Have a happy Thursday!

Thai Royal Convoy at Esplanade Centre, Bangkok
Made by Ian Fuller
A Thai Royal Person visited the Esplanade Centre, Bangkok. I photographed the vehicles in her or her convoy parked outside. The royal cars with Bureau of the Royal Household license plates included 2 Mercedes-Benz E Class saloons, 1 BMW 5-Series saloon and a Mercedes-Benz Vito APV. All are painted cream and look most impressive. The escorting police vehicles included two silver BMW 5-Series saloons, a Traffic Police and two special police BMW motorcycles. The special police vehicles seem to be dedicated for royal protextion duties. I don't know if the new black Audi TT was part of the group. It seems likely it was as it was parked adjacent to the royal convoy.
