Roskilde Cathedral
Roskilde Cathedral (Danish: Roskilde Domkirke), in the city of Roskilde on the Island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark, was the first Gothic cathedral to be built of brick and its construction encouraged the spread of this Brick Gothic style throughout Northern Europe. It was built during the 12th and 13th centuries, and incorporates both Gothic and Romanesque architectural features in its design. It was the only cathedral in Zealand until the 20th century. The cathedral's twin spires dominate the skyline of the town.Top photos chosen by u all:

Christian IV Statue
Made by Ryan Hadley
After visiting the Viking Ship Museum, I walked back into downtown Roskilde to visit the interior of Roskilde Domkirke. Roskilde was the capital of Denmark for the most of the Middle Ages. Roskilde Domkirke is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Danish Royal families have been buried inside the cathedral since the Reformation. Pictured is a bronze statue of King Christian IV by Bertel Thorvaldsen (one of the greatest Danish kings and greatest Danish artists, respectively).

Tomb Of Frederik V

Frederik V's tomb is one of the more ornate tombs in Roskilde Domkirke. The cathedral does not have a crypt, instead all the tombs line various chapels around the cathedral's circumference.
