Yellow Ribbon

I think, there is a song about tie a yellow ribbon on the old oak tree. The song may be about using using ribbon as a message to welcome home or not. Or black ribbon may be used as symbol to against the war now in Flickr. For yellow ribbon here in this photo is a symbolic of mind peace, soul meditation in Zen-alike small forest near the mediatation center in Maha Sarakham Province, Northeast region of Thailand. In this meditation center, there is a walkway up hill to the top that there is a tiny stream of water dropping from the cliff. Along walkway there are several symbolic arrangements. A tied yellow ribbon is one symbol. Not orange color like Buddhist monk cloth but just yellow. I feel and interprete it as a tie of worship to the the nature, steady commitment to mind calmness. Or this can be interpreted in many ways. Just like sitting in ZEN Park and thoughtful thinking could be developed when our mind is free and calm, then we will see another point of view which we can't see while our mind is full with emotions. The green moss covers wholely the walkway up hill the small forest inside meditation center. It was my difficulty to step over this beautiful green moss carpet. It was evening after field work I visited this temple to go uphill to watch the temple surround with nature. It was so leasant time to walk along this path. I walked slowly, stopped to see and think about these symbolic arraqngements along pathways and take photo while other friends fastly walk up and down to the target tophill. For me, not only the target destination but things I get along way to go to the destination in very meaningful even some times more meaningful than the destination itself. Evening sun light touch spot here and there make the green forest shining. and It was the greenness and Glow for my delightful evening. Nam Yoi Temple, Mediatation Center Maha Sarakham, Thailand

Another symbolic treatment to translate. I feel this may mean smalll but together supportings could support heavy matter. Actually these symbol are not arranges by the monks but the people who comes for meditation and happen to walk along this Zen walkway to the hill. The temple put sign not allowing these arrangement as this is considered disorder mess in this park. But for me I found Zen symbolic and good source for thinking. Even better than the proverb sign plugged into tree stem by the temple. Anyway different people think different thing.
