Blackpool Street signal boxes by the Down Goods line alongside Birkenhead engine shed Blackpool Street signal box was a London and North Western Railway Type 4 design fitted with a 70 lever London and North Western Railway Tumbler which was opened in 1901 by the London and North Western and Great Western Joint Railways, replacing an earlier signal box. The block section was extended to between Green Lane Junction and Brook Street signal boxes on 5th November 1967 when Blackpoo Street was closed along with the line to Birkenhead Woodside station Blackpool Street signal box was a British Railways London Midlad Region Type 15 design that was built but never opened. A frame was ordered but was never installed, part of frame was installed in Coton Hill South signal box in 1965 and possibly another part was installed in Birkenhead Park H signal box This postcard picture is one of four hundred pictures purchased in an auction in June 2011. The original photographer is unknown

Sorry no history with this one yet. It is situated just after the exit of the birkenhead mersey tunnel. Funny thing is fifteen minutes earlier there was a heavy snow fall here, you would never guess looks like a summers day. Taken 29/01/2010 by Martin Jones Canon EOS 400D Sigma 18-200mm

Once a very popular pub at the entrance gates to Cammell Lairds, ship builders. The pub nearly closed then some years after the closure of the ship builders it changed into Hotel California, a live Rock venue, recently it changed names to Revolver, still hosting live rock music.
