All My Macro Flowers, I will dedicated to all Woman with Breast Cancer. I just fiend of a friend have die of Breast Cancer 3 year ago, and I want to share we all my friend this Email from a old friend of my...... How did I find you? Well, it's a sad but at the same time uplifting story. Remember my cousin Carolina? I think her angel wings had something to do with it. Perhaps you already knew this but if not, I'm really sorry to tell you that she died in NYC of breast cancer three years ago. The anniversary of her death is coming up on Sept. 4 and I was looking for her obituary. Thinking of her reminded me that I made a promise to her and still needed to give you a message from her. I was with her in her final weeks of life and during that time we shared some very special, precious and endearing moments alone. During one of those times, we remembered you and laughed pretty hard about some of the fun times we all had together in NYC. One of her favorites was our trip to Great Adventure and the drama she put on pretending to be sick when you got pulled over by the cops. LOL!! After she died I tried to find you on the Internet but no luck back then. Soon after her death, my youngest son was diagnosed with a rare brain malformation which took me and my family on a very difficult journey with him. My son became my only focus and completely consumed every ounce of my existence for the next two years. My son is doing well now and things are pretty much back to normal and as Carolina's anniversary draws near, I remembered my promise to her. So I googled your name and found your photography website where of course you listed your email. You made it very easy to find you! And so now I can finally share this with you... Carolina wanted you to know that she always remembered you con mucho carino and she asked me to thank you for the wonderful memories, the laughter, the good times and the many smiles you brought to her life. So thank you from Carolina... Good night.. -Oneida ....After i di reed this email tears run down my eyes...... All my Flowers going to those Brave Woman.... HVargas

Ringwood Manor Outbuildings

View Larger On Black Dig. Image - Ringwood NJ. By the time of the American Revolution, Ringwood had become the center of an Ironmaking industry which included 150,000 acres in New Jersey, New York and Nova Scotia. The ironmaster at Ringwood was an engineer and inventor by the name of Robert Erskine, who was General George Washington’s mapmaker during the Revolutionary War. At one point the colonists became concerned that British warships might use the Hudson River to separate New England from the rest of the colonies, and it was Erskine who designed a barrier that kept warships from moving upriver. Ringwood iron was used for parts of that famous Hudson River chain, and to help supply the Continental Army with camp ovens, tools and other hardware. Ringwood made shot for the war of 1812, and was to become a major supplier to the Union Army during the American Civil War. (see previous Ringwood Images on Photostream)

Here we are with a mortar whose base was either forged here or at least the iron came from here. The chain was supposed to be from that used across the Hudson to block the British at West Point, but after analysis was found not to be. Still, imagine a chain that big going across the Hudson. We had a FANTASTIC tour of this house, where Sue the Historian answered all of our questions with much knowledge. It's free. Go there. I took this photo myself with a 10-second timer. I didn't know if I'd be able to make it up the hill, but it was easier than scrambling over boulders. Fascinating Times article from 1865 about mining here This is the last photo of Digihike #2.

Skylands 1,119 acres (4.5 km²), also known as the New Jersey Botanical Garden, is a mansion and 96-acre (390,000 m2) botanical garden in Ringwood State Park in the borough of Ringwood, located within the Ramapo Mountains in Passaic County in New Jersey, USA. Its formal gardens are open to the public year round. The house and gardens, including formal gardens and specimen plantings, were built in the 1920s by Clarence MacKenzie Lewis, a New York City stockbroker and civil engineer. Lewis hired architect John Russell Pope to design the Tudor revival manor house (44 rooms). Mr. Pope's other works include the National Archives and the National Gallery of Art. The manor is a reproduction English mansion featuring rectangular, bay and oriel windows. A nine-hole golf course once graced this property.

And I opened the door with my bare hands And I said: Hey! Who tore up all my wallpaper samples? Who ate all the grapes--the ones I was saving? And this guy was sitting there, and I said: Hey, Pal! What’s going on here? And he had this smile, and when he smiled he had these big white teeth, like luxury hotels on the Florida coastline. And when he closed his mouth, it looked like a big scar. And I said to myself: Holy smokes! Looks like some kind of a guest/host relationship to me. And I said: Hey, pal! What’s going on here anyway, who. are. you? And he said: Now, I’m the Soul Doctor, and you know, language is a virus from Outer Space. And hearing your name is better than seeing your face. -Laurie Anderson

Sunday, January 9, 2011: First hike of the new year, and first hike since mid-autumn. Folks have tamped down the snow since the the day after Christmas, but 5-8 just came down the other day. I like winter hiking, because you don't have to pay attention to the blazes. I've parked at the sled hill at Ringwood Manor, and it's all uphill after crossing the road. I'm in regular hiking boots--not snowshoes--and if it's this drifty for the rest of the hike, I'll have to turn back soon. This hike is in 50 Hikes in NJ.

Although I discuss, write, blog, shout “Ad Nauseam” about shooting on film as a medium, I am thankful for the amazing amounts of digital tools available. I rely so heavily on the Epson v700 scanner and Adobe Photoshop that they’re the equivalent of running water and the automobile – things that you have and use every day that you take for granted. One Cloud
Made by kleepet
The day was bright, and the snow was glaring. Suddenly, everything went dark. I looked up, and this one cloud (okay 1 + some bits) had completely blocked the sun. It caused quite a difference in light level, like when you're in the shadow of a passing airplane, but lasting longer. This hike is in 50 Hikes in NJ. This is the last photo of the Governor Mountain lollipop hike.
