~~ Stairway to heaven ~~
Made by Julien Ratel ( In Iceland )
Led Zeppelin: Stairway to heaven Theres a lady whos sure All that glitters is gold And shes buying a stairway to heaven. When she gets there she knows If the stores are all closed With a word she can get what she came for. Ooh, ooh, and shes buying a stairway to heaven. Theres a sign on the wall But she wants to be sure cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook Theres a songbird who sings, Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it makes me wonder. Theres a feeling I get When I look to the west, And my spirit is crying for leaving. In my thoughts I have seen Rings of smoke through the trees, And the voices of those who standing looking. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it really makes me wonder. And its whispered that soon If we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason. And a new day will dawn For those who stand long And the forests will echo with laughter. If theres a bustle in your hedgerow Dont be alarmed now, Its just a spring clean for the may queen. Yes, there are two paths you can go by But in the long run Theres still time to change the road youre on. And it makes me wonder. Your head is humming and it wont go In case you dont know, The pipers calling you to join him, Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, And did you know Your stairway lies on the whispering wind. And as we wind on down the road Our shadows taller than our soul. There walks a lady we all know Who shines white light and wants to show How evrything still turns to gold. And if you listen very hard The tune will come to you at last. When all are one and one is all To be a rock and not to roll. And shes buying a stairway to heaven. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Discover My whole photostream on darckr

Blazing Pink. Prunus campanulata, Parc de la Tête d'Or, Lyon, France
Made by Rana Pipiens
The Parc de la Tête d'Or north of Croix-Rousse in Lyon, on the left bank of the Rhône is one of the largest public parks in France with a pretty lake, a zoo and tremendous botanical collections. The Lyonnais and the rest of the world have the French Revolution to thank for it. In 1794 the National Convention passed a law requiring all towns with more than 300,000 inhabitants to provide for Public Schools. These schools were to teach the sciences, the arts and the fine arts; moreover, they were to be equipped with cabinets with examples of natural history and also they were to have access to botanical gardens. In Lyon such a garden was established on the slopes of Croix-Rousse, where its flowers could also be used for patterns and illustrations in silk weaving. Soon that garden was transferred to a new public park created on what had once been the property of a wealthy merchant, Antoine Lambert, in the fifteenth century. Today it is a premier botanical garden of France if not the world. A totally fascinating place and entry even into the great glass houses is entirely free of charge. In its grounds Stunning Spring exuberantly lit up this wonderful Prunus campanulata or Taiwan cherry for me. With all the other plants and the beauty of this place, it made my day. (Ah! of course! I almost forgot: whence the name Tête d'Or? Well, legend has it that once in late Roman-early Christian times a golden object with Jeus's head engraved on it was hidden on the present-day park's grounds. That object has not been found... But would it really have been more beautiful than the Book of Nature open to us in this Parc?)

Cordyline Beauty. Cordyline congesta Steud., Parc de la Tête d'Or, Lyon, France
Made by Rana Pipiens
My imagination could find no more suitable name than its own to describe this marvellous plant, often called Palm Lily, still wet from its morning shower. There's a debate among botanists whether it is properly a member of the Asparagaceae or rather the Agavaceae or even other groups. Things are so complicated that I find it hard to choose. Regardless, these plants and their flowers originating in Australia are quite stunning. This Cordyline congesta looks a lot like Cordyline stricta, but I just follow the label of the very well organised and startlingly clean and efficient Botanical Gardens of Lyon's Parc de la Tête d'Or. Yes, 'Cordyline' is the proper name in English as well, according to the OED; used first in 1866 in that language. Sometimes - as in the German Keulenlilien - a reference is made in the vernacular to the meaning derived from the Greek: namely 'club' or 'cudgel', or 'thick-stemmed' or 'thick-rooted'. The Steud. in the title is for Ernst Gottlieb von Steudel (1783-1856), German botanist, who described this plant on the basis of Robert Sweet's (1783-1835; he was a well-known ornithologist as well!) earlier material. No matter what its name, the flowers emanating from a brown-purplish red stem are particularly colorful and a joy to behold. They are ca. 1 - 1.5 cm in size.

Stained glass of the basilique de Fourvière
Made by B℮n
The term stained glass refers either to the material of coloured glass or to the art and craft of working with it. Throughout its thousand-year history the term stained glass was applied almost exclusively to the windows of churches, cathedrals and other significant buildings. Stained glass of the Notre-Dame de Fourvière in Lyon. Built between 1872 and 1896.

Lyon in the Evening
Made by Stuck in Customs
Hiking to the top of this beast with my camera and tripod was a lot tougher than it looked! I saw this area from the train as I came into Lyon, and I was bound and determined to get to the top before dark. As I began the switchbacks, the darkness was falling, so I had to switch my iPod over to some upbeat music to drive me to the top in time. As soon as I got up there, the ferris wheel lit up and the city came alive with light. Like a marine with his gun, I assembled the tripod, ran through my settings on the camera, and fired away. Trey's Tip: When cropping, don't be afraid to chop off a lot of the top and bottom to give the final work a cinematic feel. from the blog at www.stuckincustoms.com

we live as we dream... alone.

I'll always remember this shot of my own personal Santa ;-). The feeling I had when I pressed the shutter, hoping that the exposure lens was fast enough to avoid hand-shaking blur... I knew deep inside me the shot would be extraordinary ! The wind was amazingly strong, my dad was leading the walk a bit far away from us, I was awaiting for my mother & a friend who was not used to such weather conditions and snowy landscapes... That was just awesome. :-)) this was shot on Christmas 2004, with a film camera :-). the (sad) quotation is from Joseph Conrad

Bistrot de Lyon
Made by Stuck in Customs
I went out to dinner with a bunch of cool Russians after the conference on Tuesday. We went down one of the most popular streets in Lyon to have some seafood. Afterwards, the founder of this other company and I went out to shoot photos.. I think we walked the streets for about 3 hours until 2 AM. It was a big mistake since my flight left early the next morning! Although, it is better than going out drinking with the Russians...

I don't know that she was really vexed, it lasted less than 20 seconds, but there it was, that look. That look that I love so much, because I it says I am not agree in her best Frenglish.
