Lomonosov Moscow State University В.
Made by foje64
Lomonosov Moscow State University is the largest university in Russia. Founded in 1755, it also claims to be the oldest university in Russia and to have the tallest educational building in the world. In 1940, the university was renamed in honor of its founder, Mikhail Lomonosov. The main building was designed by architect Lev Vladimirovich Rudnev. In the post-war era, Stalin ordered seven huge tiered neoclassic towers to be built around the city. The MSU Main building is by far the largest of these. It was the tallest building in the world outside of New York City at the time of its construction, and remained the tallest building in Europe until 1990. The central tower is 240 m tall, 36 stories high, and flanked by four huge wings of student and faculty accommodations. It is said to contain a total of 33 kilometers of corridors and 5,000 rooms. HDR from three shots, AEB -2, 0, +2, Canon EOS 500D, EF-S10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM. Processed with Photomatix Pro 3.2 and Photoshop Elements 7.0. Lomonossow von innen
Made by SebastianBerlin

Moscow State University at night
Made by Andrei Linde
Please view it . There is a water pool with fountains (which are not functioning now, I believe) in the central alley leading from the Moscow river to the University. In the evening one can see the University reflected there, it is quite beautiful. Thus, the reflection is real, not Photoshop-produced. While making this photo I was holding the camera quite close to the water surface, which explains the symmetry and makes the pool look almost infinite. A landscape version of this image can be found here.

One of the so called Seven sisters - The Seven Sisters is the English name given to a group of Moscow skyscrapers designed in the Stalinist style. Muscovites call them Vysotki or Stalinskie Vysotki (Russian: Сталинские высотки), (Stalin's) high-rises. They were built from 1947 to 1953,[1] in an elaborate combination of Russian Baroque and Gothic styles, and the technology used in building American skyscrapers. (see more at wikipedia)

After Storm
Made by c-head
A double rainbow in Moscow. Shot is made out from the window of Moscow State University after storm. A supernumerary rainbow is an infrequent phenomenon, consisting of several faint rainbows on the inner side of the primary rainbow, and very rarely also outside the secondary rainbow. Supernumerary rainbows are slightly detached and have pastel colour bands that do not fit the usual pattern. (WikiPedia)

This is a classic Gothic Stalinist architecture. This soaring and impressive building was built in the early 1950's. You have to see it up close to appreciate its size. There's another Gothic Stalinist building in Moscow and that is Ministry of Foreign Affairs building. It's yet another soaring monster.

Experiment with the simliest tilt shift ever - i was just holding my lens (Volna-9 Macro - very nice old soviet lens) in front of camera and tilting/shifting it. Result is nice, i think.
