Before you rush off thinking what a poorly processed shot, perhaps you should read the story. If you have read todays blog post you will be aware that I recently received a couple of boxes of very expired 4x5 film that picked up in an estate sale. This morning Tamara wanted me out of the way for a couple of hours why she spring cleaned prior to her mums arrival, so I loaded up two test sheets of Kodak Super-xx Panochromatic, with an expiry date of September 1959, not an easy task as the film felt very brittle and didn't want to sit flat in the holders. I wandered around Montmartre and shot both sheets wide open at ISO 50 in harsh sunlight. I didn't expect anything so wasn't that fussy about my subjects. The results are a surprise, for such a sloppy session I managed to capture an image on both negatives and now wish I had taken more care, particularly with loading as I do have a light leak, possibly due to bunching of the negative near the light trap. Fogged sure, but usable. This is the first... La Ville de Paris Gets Ready for Night
Made by Stuck in Customs
I was on the hill in the Montmartre part of Paris just after the sun had set. I pointed the camera over the sprawl of the city just as the lights were coming on for the evening. I made it my personal mission to walk down into the city that evening, meander around, and visit at least three pastry shops and eat a silly number of desserts. I tricked myself into thinking that I might be burning a lot of calories by doing so much walking. It's amazing how easily I was able to justify French desserts. Trey's Tip: While taking photos, it's good to have a few side-quests to keep an eye out for. In my case, it's eating pastries. This is not the healthiest side-goal, but it's a fun one! Anyway, my point is that you don't just have to be a photography machine -- you can always do a few things at the same time to enrich the overall experience.

Paging Mr Tumnas

Another shot from our Christmas walk with the heaviest camera in Paris, and we had just climbed a bazillion stairs to get here. Trouble with the Large Format stuff is it looks shite online unless I upload the full size, which blows one away. But every time I change my settings to allow access to large sizes, it all gets posted, blogged and stolen like there was no tomorrow. People suck! Though not as much as Tumblr, the main culprit. I discovered yesterday that, not only do they turn a blind eye to IP theft, but if you have an account and delete all your stuff they keep a copy. People are still reblogging stuff I posted there and deleted months ago. Bah humbug. [Calumet 4x5 Monorail] [Polaroid Copal Tominon 127mm] [Shanghai 100] [Fomadon R09 (new) 1+100, 60 minutes with agitation every 30 minutes, Temp 20C]

The Sacred Heart of Paris
Made by Stuck in Customs
This is the Sacred Heart Church that sits high on a hill in a very artsy area of Paris. Actually, all of Paris seems artsy to me. I've always wondered what it would be like to be a full time artist living in Paris. Wouldn't that be just about the coolest thing in the world? Or maybe you would become spoiled in just a short while and take it all for granted. It's very hard to empathize or sympathize with any mystical miserables that might be in that situation. Trey's Tip: I usually take these with a single RAW, but I kind of like the motion in these people... on occasion it seems okay to me, like here.

La Basilique du Sacre Coeur de Montmartre
Made by Stuck in Customs
This is a famous basilica in Paris. It sits high on a hill and is beautifully lit in the evening. This is the birthplace of the Jesuits back in 1534. That is only interesting to me because I was a Jesuit student myself back in the day. You would think that would mean that I would be allowed to come inside to take all the photos I want with a special key that everyone gets upon graduation. But I had no such key so I was forced to stay on the perimeter with all the other heathens. from my daily photo blog at www.stuckincustoms.com

Les Amoureux du Sacré-Cœur
Made by ßecky
A young couple at the top of Sacre Coeur, Paris. I have a whole set of these - I got a little bit obsessed with Doisneau style photographs and ended up looking out for (or maybe chasing?) couples all over Paris. Some noticed me, but these two didn't. Will upload the rest of the series soon, but they're not quite ready yet. Was aiming for a cinematic style, and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Amelie was the inspiration behind the post processing. Uhmm, yes, and you could view it bigger if you'd like.

the Sacred-Heart basilica of montmartre in Paris

Hello dear friends :-) The sky here (which I changed) is the result of two blended pics (one pic taken when the weather was bad, and another one on a sunny day, but both with a lot of clouds. I apllied a HDR treatment to one of them and changed the colors after blending). The tones of the basilica are also a little bit changed to be more adapted to the tones of the sky. I also added light on the left part of the basilica to give of focus on the green statue. Have a great and crazy day!! :-)) (recommended)

Sacré Coeur
Made by Demodragon
The famous basilica in the summit of Montmartre... there are thousands os stairs to get there... is very easy to get tired. But at the end it worth since you can see a skyline of Paris... the bad part is that Eiffel can't be seen from here. Now I have a lot a lot of shots to edit... so a lot of 'nice' work.... have a nice weekend everyone... and thx a lot for your comments.

Amélie-esque
Made by RichardLowkes
Fiddled around with a shot I took one morning in montmartre to give it the warm look of the famous, and amazing, movie, where Amelie goes to return the photobook to Nino. Nothing complex, just a bit of cropping and colour balance/exposure adjustments...and a bit of a border, too. It's a beautiful enough place as it is :) Geotagged

A landmark of Paris is this church at the summit of the butte Montmartre. From here you can see a skyline of Paris. The place was pretty full even the hour 'coz it was pretty late. And, of course, we can't get inside. I even don't know if it is possible, since this place still works as a functional catholic church. Hope you like this little hdr... Greetings to 'ol!

Paris Afternoon Glow
Made by Storm Crypt
Taken from Montmartre, the highest point in Paris, one foggy afternoon. Ever wondered why there are no tall buildings within the Eiffel Tower area? This is because the city has imposed a limit on building elevations within that area. Eiffel Tower from Montmartre Paris, France
