Curious langurs at dawn on one of the two holy mountains overlooking Pushkar, in Rajasthan, India. I'd walked up during the night to watch the sun rise over the holy lake and, all alone, had settled down with my camera, a drink and a small packet of biscuits. No sooner had I extracted the packet from my pocket than I was surrounded by around 20 eager but friendly langurs! The only distraction was a very fierce dog protecting a temple at the top of the mountain, a dog which tried to launch a whole series of attacks on me before it was light! The langur at the back is, in fact, keeping a keen lookout for the vicious dog!

As the cow reaches the summit of the mountain, his worst fears are realised. Not only is he exhausted after a long climb under the sun, but the mountain has been completely overrun by an army of greedy langurs. He can forget any notions of chapatis immediately. Not only will there be no chapatis but there won't be the slightest chance of anything else to eat either. Those langurs will perform all manner of ridiculous tricks to get a chapati. What chance does does a poor cow have? With a long sigh, the cow sets off down the mountain towards the lake. (continues )
