Sampela Bajau Village, Tukangbesi Islands, Wakatobi, Indonesia Sampela is a Sea Gypsy or 'Bajau' village off the island of Kaledupa in the Wabatobi Marine National Park. The village is built on the reef flat, and houses are either supported on stilts or on man made islands of coral rubble and boulders that is mined from the nearby reefs. Operation Wallacea have their Social Science / Anthropology unit based in Sampela. The former sea gypsies,the bajau people.
