Pueblo del Arroyo
Made by Travis S.
A line of holes for can be seen at the second story level of this structure. These wooden beams were generally of ponderosa pine, spruce, and fir. It was estimated that 200,000 trees were felled to build the great houses of Chaco Canyon. There were no local forests so to reduce the weight, all these trees would have been processed on location, dried, and readied for transport 60 miles away. This is the outer wall of the southeast corner of the complex. The three doors seen to the north (left) could not have been meant for people. Only small animals could possibly fit through these holes. This is View #4 on the map.

San Juan River Basin
Made by Travis S.
Down in this depression lies the small San Juan River. This is called the Chaco Wash. Pueblo del Arroyo means Town of the Creek, which makes sense since this view is from very near the pueblo. Some modern agency is keeping this wash from getting any bigger and claiming Pueblo del Arroyo. This is on the map.
