Victoria is baking at over 40°C 104°F today. It will stay hot through the night in most places. Many towns will cancel their fireworks because of a total fire ban. We are visiting our friends in their new house at Portarlington. Across our corner of Port Phillip Bay are the wonderful You Yangs, small granite hills between Melbourne and Geelong. Happy New Year everyone! Tomorrow it will rain everwhere in Victoria and cool us down.
