The timeless bulk of this great gate stands out as the ghostly images of cars and people rush by. The gate was built in 52 AD by the emporer Claudius. Also called Porta Prenistina.

strange tomb of a freedman baker just outside the Aurelian Wall. one theory for it's bizarre design is to make it look like an oven (perhaps the guy had a sense of humor).
