A little late with uploading this one, sorry! Didn't get a chance to edit the massive 3GB stitch last night. Even with 8GB of RAM and a quad core i7 processor, this image was certainly a pain to work with, but I got there in the end. The shot was taken near Nancy Peak in the Porongurup National Park. Got some good shots on this hike, but it was definitely a long one, it didn't help that I had a swollen sprained ankle. Do do this image justice .


Xanthosia

Xanthosia cf. rotundifolia in to Porongurup range in West Australia. An unusual looking flower, this species only grows in the southern most part of Western Australia. It's common name is Southern Cross due to the arrangement of the flower clusters at right angles to eachother. Many thanks to for spotting this flower, barely hanging onto a rock and well off the path.


Granite on a grand scale

The Porongorup Range consists of granite that is some 1400 million years old. Once an ancient mountain range, it now consists of granite peaks largely levelled into domes that have gradually been exposed by the weathering of the surrounding rock.
